Monday, December 16: 6:30pm at Mosaic —Changed due to weather!

Do you want to learn more about your Garmin GPS? Are you thinking about purchasing one but want more information before you buy?

I’ll be teaching a session on GPS Navigation for cyclists using Garmin Devices Monday at 6:30pm. We’ll go through all the processes that you need to use a Garmin to guide your bike rides including finding routes, downloading them to your computer and then sending them to your Garmin.

Garmin’s documentation is helpful for recording your rides, but notoriously bad for how to actually navigate with the 800 and 500 series Garmin devices.

I’ll go through all the tricks and processes that will help you get the most out of your GPS.

RSVP by leaving a comment here… It isn’t required, but it helps me know who is coming. I did a Facebook Event for the Mosaic class: https://www.facebook.com/events/1426805120883522

    Thanks!

    Pete

I really use only one screen on my 800 for data.
    Speed
    Distance
    Time of Day
    Temperature
    Battery level
    Heart Rate Zone.

Well, dont ya know, I am just trying to be a responsible cyclist and make sure that I dont exceed the MVT speed limit.

    Or

It’s for those rare winter days when the wind is blowing 20 knots upriver, attempting to deceive me on the way home, that I have somehow gained some incredible chops.

    Or

I would not exactly call it taunting. More like heckle… mock… jeer… scoff… sneer… Is it possible for a Garmin to laugh at you???

Happens to me all the time. I have the “auto pause” set for “when stopped.” Damn thing likes to auto-pause on me when I’m slowly crawling up a hill…

Oh I hate that! When I first got my Garmin Jan set it up to auto pause when I was going less than 3mph. Needless to say the first time I used that GPS while mountain biking half my ride wasn’t recorded! I have since changed that setting bit it definitely wasn’t good for my ego!
