ParticipantI wish they came in wide (“HV” in Giro speak). The Giro HV mtb shoe I tried on felt awesome. I bet some of the local shops at least have other Giro models. I want to say I saw Giro shoes at FreshBikes, but not sire if they were lace-up. Or maybe I am misremembering altogether.

ParticipantI have a pair of Republics, which are the SPD version. I’m actually going to get rid of them, not because they’re uncomfortable, but I just didn’t really need them and so don’t wear them enough to justify keeping them. I got them at REI, but they don’t carry the Empires. I’ve seen Empires at Freshbikes, however.

Humminah. I’m usually a 44, but I’ve tried Giro.
If you want to try them on, just let me know. They do run a little small.

ParticipantFunny, I had a pair that I sold through our forum here because I thought they were a bit too loose… and I have narrow feet. I ended up buying a different pair of Sidi Drako (overkill for what I use them for, but I like the wire adjustability and they are super comfortable). Originally I had hoped that the laces would offer me a better and more personal fit, but there was too much slippage in the heel. Shame, because otherwise I could tell they’d be comfortable.

ParticipantSo I actually tried on the Giros and found them pretty uncomfortable. I ended up buying Fizik’s r3bs with the boa system. Although they’re taking some time to break in I really like them… cheaper and lighter than the Giros, while still classic looking with lots of adjustability, especially when on the bike. Thumbs up!

I may what to try them on some day as well. Today I am picking up my pair of 44.0 HV Privateers from the Bike Rack but would like Empires for commuting.

Those are beautiful… But, I looked at the linked site and lo and behold:
The R3B is available for men in sizes 42-47 (half-sizes 42.5-45.4) and for women in sizes 38-42 (half-sizes 39.5-40.5).
You have GOT to be kidding?! The smallest women’s size they offer is a 38? 😡
