Yes, it’s almost right dab smack on the trail.

Except for the banjo-playing, gap-toothed suburbanites, you ain’t got nothin’ to worry about out there.

From the town center, where democracy drive loops around by the ice rink, go across and then get on the path to the right immediately before the bridge. That path drops behind the bus station straight down to the W&OD. Its at about mile 18 on the W&OD, which gives you a nice 26.5 mile ride out to Purcellville.

Fabulous! Thanks for the map and details! Looks I can’t possibly get lost, or even lose sight of a coffee shop.

Just as an FYI, the “Ride to Provide” takes place in that very location on Saturday at 0900. It just might be something to consider, in terms of leaving before 0900 if at all possible, or joining if you care to. This isn’t a HUGE event (at least I don’t think), but still will likely have the trail much more crowded than it already would be on a nice day.

Also, my experience last year was that many of the Ride to Provide participants were less well versed with trail use protocol than say the Paul’s Ride for Life participants you will encounter on the exact same routes the following Saturday.

I was out there last weekend and the trail wasn’t too packed, especially a little further out, and I had a great ride out to Purcellville. Thanks for all the tips for jumping on the trail. Found some good eats and drinks at the end as well!
