Good afternoon Freezing Saddlers! FSSB 3 is almost done, and we are now mid-challenge, so it’s time for our next side bet – FSSB #4
The format for this side bet is different than the last 3. For this one we are going to do a Super Team Tournament, With total points determining who will walk away proud, and who will walk away with tails between legs.

As of right now there is some separation between teams, but fear not, even if your team hasn’t posted huge miles this challenge is up for grabs; anyone can win.

Here is how it will work. Over the next week ride as you normally do, and post your miles to strava. Your team’s points during that round will be combined with another team’s for a super team score. Your super team will go head to head with another super team, with the winner moving on to round 2. So what are the teams.
Teams will be decided by rank of teams as of MIDNIGHT tonight, and will go as follows
Super Team 1 (first place + tenth place)
Super Team 2 (fifth place + sixth place)
Super Team 3 (second place + ninth place)
Super Team 4 (third place + eighth place)
Super Team 5 (fourth place + seventh place)
I’ll post a bracket and update team names accordingly.

Round 1 will be total points for Thursday through Sunday, Round 2 will be total points for Monday through Thursday with total winner announced next Friday.
Here’s what it will look like, We go live at Midnight!

I like that Super Team 2 goes out of order from the other teams. ELITE.

I’m thinking this means those poor Slackers–who joined with the expectation that they wouldn’t be expected to do much of anything–are suddenly going to be under pressure from the #1 team to up their game.

@ Dread – matchups were designed for competitiveness
@ cvcalhoun – No, I fully expect the Chris and Chris show to carry the 18 other riders

I get that. The matchups go in order, they’re just placed on Super Team numbers out of order in one spot.

Yep, 2+9 >> 5+6 , these matchups makes both first round matches more interesting. I don’t want to set up any cakewalks in the first round (espially not the team I would be on).

Great, way to add even more incentive for them to ride!

Slackers should be renamed the Ringers because they are chock full of ass-kicking winter riders. HUGE advantage to be paired with them. :D

    GO GO GO SOOOOOOPERTEAM ONE!!!!

I love how everyone assumes that Sloppy Seconds will be #1 going forward. For the record, there has actually been only one week that Sloppy Seconds has been on top of the weekly rankings. What has happened is that a different team jettisons to the top each week, but then can’t keep it up the following week. We Sloppies aren’t at the top any one week, but are consistent enough to take top honors overall.

I’m only assuming that they are going to be #1 in 36 min, at the start of FSSB #4.

Ah, okay, I was misreading it to say that you’d set up the teams based on the first week after the start of FSSB #4. If we’re setting them up based on past performance, I would agree it’s unlikely we’ll drop out of first place in the next 32 minutes.

As a member of said team, I would vote that Slackers team not be included (though in realize that throws a wench in the math). Slackers team has no handicap and riders are participating for purely social side effects of the competition. Seems wrong to enter them into the team competition. Of course, it is a side bet, so it may not matter; I personally don’t monitor the leaderboards so I won’t be feeling any extra pressure to ride :)

Great, now I’ll have to actually ride my handicap. :(
