    All –

I missed the Freezing Saddles Last Night Hains Point Party in 2019 because earlier that day I had surgery to repair my torn Achilles. I missed it in 2020 because of COVID. It is difficult to express how much I am looking forward to it this year. And it’s on a Friday! So most of us can sleep in afterwards!

Who’s in? I am trying to motivate myself to make some delicious snacks. I’m even thinking about dragging the kids down on the early side (Gremlin 2 may need the miles if she wants the Pointless Kids title this year).

This is one of my favorite things about Freezing Saddles. Being at Hains Point late at night is just weird – it’s full of people, but NO ONE even bats an eyelash at a bunch of cyclists riding stupid laps. Except for that raccoon that one year, but I think he wanted a shot of Steve O’s limoncello.

Anyway, i hope to see everyone there.

I knew I was in trouble as soon as I started that last lap – the front tire just didn’t sound right. After the giant piece of glass I took out of it this morning, I thought I’d be good. I made it from the tailgate spot all the way to the second stop sign before I couldn’t ride it any more. Not the way I expected to go out, but BAFS is a cruel mistress. Thanks to HF for the ride home – otherwise I’d still be walking.

    What a turnout!
All you badasses are what makes Freezing Saddles the greatest, most fantastic winter bike game in the DC area.

Thanks for coming out. See you next year.

Actually, I hope to see you sooner. If you are new to FS and the forum, keep your eye on this and keep in touch. The community of biking friends continues year round.
    – Join us at coffee clubs. There’s one or more every weekday
    – Midnight Saddles rides will hopefully resume in the second half of 2021
    – Different people organize theme rides on this forum (you can, too)
    – #bikedc used to do a monthly HH. Hopefully that will resume this year
    – I hope to organize at least one Nationals Fan Club ride

Etc. Etc. Don’t be a stranger
