Not sure if I’m the first, but I nabbed my 4th and final boundary stone today: East

I then decided to ride back home via Southern Avenue & the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, visiting SE stones #1 – #7 along the way

SE 4 could use some TLC

And SE 7 is being used as a trash bin

Got my south and west stones today and visited the stones and or close addresses to the stones along the way (mostly until we just ran out of steam).

    South – Jones Point, Alexandria

West – Andrew Elliot Park, Arlington

I also discovered that if you put your phone right on the glass, you can actually get a photo of the South stone!

Does anyone have a good route for the Maryland/DC side of the stones? I’m looking for something fairly current. I’m happy to share my route for the SW and NW sections (although you can’t see the NW stones in VA as they’re in the back of private yards for the most part), but the route can show you how to get as close as possible. :-)

I know for certain NW1 is accessible, because I have a photo that I took. I believe the others are, too. NW3 can be seen from the road, and I bet the owners are used to having people come look at it. Don’t know about NW2, but there are others here who can probably weigh in on that one. NW4 onward are in DC.

I see it’s been visited already, but here is my close-up of North Corner Boundary Stone (nestled in a backyard just off of East-West Highway).

Got the East Boundary stone on today’s ride. I was on Verbena St NW and couldn’t get access to the North Boundary Stone. I’ll have to go back from the Maryland side from East-West Highway.

FWIW… last year I created a route for my BAFS team that visited NW1 and NW3, both are located deep inside backyards.

We viewed NW1 from the street, it’s straight back from the driveway, but I had to zoom in big time for the photo.

At NW3, while we were viewing the stone from the street we were approached by the teenage son who invited us up into their backyard to view the boundary stone close up. The father came out and explained that after he bought the property he had landscaped the backyard, and of course did not move the boundary stone, but leveled the area a bit around it. I think the result worked the NW3 boundary stone very nicely into their landscaping and backyard patio.

NW2 is high on a bluff off Old Dominion and is not viewable from public domain as far as I’m aware… the property owner at NW3 said that he’d asked the resident there for permission to walk through his yard and had viewed the NW2 boundary stone.

    NW1 from the street:

Last Sunday morning I didn’t have anything better to do so I sat down and created my version of a route to visit the Four Corner Boundary Stones, then rode the route in the afternoon, finishing by sunset at the South Cornerstone. The route is 54 miles, but then I decided to add on 8 miles after completing the route by retracing a few miles on the southwest diagonal to make it a metric century. Here’s my RWGPS route and a few photos:
