To avoid getting this lost in the RSVP thread…

Questions about getting to the location for happy hour. What is the best way, on a bike, to get from DC (coming from southeast) to 2020 Crystal Drive in Arlington? I see that it’s near Reagan, but I’ve never left the trail in that area…

Also, what is the bicycle parking like? I saw something about there being some racks… somewhere… Would someone provide more details, and give a read on the potential for bike theft in the area?

    Thanks!

If you don’t mind going slightly out of your way, you can join the convoy at 5:30 from the Washington Monument. 15th & Madison.
If you already know how to get on the 14th St. Bridge, then you are home free.

Cross the bridge and head south* on the MVT. Go past Gravelly Point. As you ride alongside the airport, you will go up and over one overpass and shortly afterward cross a flat bridge. As soon as you cross that bridge there is a connector trail that goes off to your right with a sign: “Crystal City” (If you go up and over another overpass, you have gone too far). That connector trail is conveniently called the Crystal City Connector.
Go right towards Crystal City. The trail will curve down under. After you pass through the tunnel, the street you come up to is Crystal Drive. You will come up at 18th St. Go left to get to 2020.
Likelihood of bike theft around there is low. Here’s the link to the post about parking.

*for directionally challenged people, going south means that the Potomac River will be on your left side and the GW Parkway will be on your right

Thanks! That should work. I will probably go there on my own, because I haven’t decided how late I’m going to stay at work, etc.

    Cheers.
