Will do this again this year. This is different than Coffeecatting, but could overlap with it to some degree. I’ve tweaked the rules a little from last year:

    1. The object is to visit as many DIFFERENT LOCAL, i.e., DMV, coffee places as possible (on your bike, of course!). But once you visit one place, that’s it. A second visit doesn’t count.

    2. Starbucks is verboten. But other chains, e.g., Peet’s, Cosi, etc., are fair game. However once you visit one chain outlet, that’s it. A visit to the same outlet but at a different location doesn’t count. I know the Starbucks ban is arbitrary, but my prize so my rules. :)

    3. “Swamp” coffee, e.g., 7-Eleven, Wawa, etc., is OK but subject to the same conditions as in #2 above.

    4. Bakeries, restaurants, and even fast food joints that serve coffee are also OK but subject to the same conditions as in #2 above.

    5. For your ride to count, use #FS2019coffeeride in your Strava ride title and include the name of the place you visited, e.g., #FS2019coffeeride Java Shack. NOTE: Posting of coffee rides is totally honor system, i.e., I’m assuming you’re following the rules. Not required, but encouraged, is to also post pics on your Strava. And if you want to post your Strava ride link and pics on this thread for all to see, that would be fun too (but not required).

    6. The winner will be whoever has visited the most DIFFERENT coffee places.

    7. The tiebreaker will be whoever has the coffee shops per coffee ride miles ridden.

    8. If needed, the second tie breaker will be whoever has visited the most “swamp coffee” places.

    9. FINALLY, both consularrider and bikedavid are welcome to play but aren’t eligible to win this year. Sorry guys! :( But you won prizes last year and I’d like to give someone else a chance to win.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Get your caffeine game on!

I was posting the route in the opposite direction, 20 miles, starting at Commonwealth Joes in Pentagon City and ending at Blue Bottle Coffee in Georgetown. Unfortunately, I got timed out as I typed in all the stops. :( If I do the ride, I will allow five hours to enjoy the coffee, spread out the caffeine, and get some food at several of the places.

And WTF is wrong with you people asking if decaf or just grabbing a bite to eat is OK??? Of course it’s not! Neither is tea.

I always drink espresso, but this one time, I drank tea as well, and the girl I was dating called me a “tea-drinking sissy.” I love the phrase and still use it 15 years later.

But, don’t kill yourself drinking coffee if the doc says you shouldn’t. I wouldn’t really think of anyone as a sissy, and besides, I’ve seen DrEvil’s vids so it wouldn’t matter if I did.

Silly Rabbit Trix are for kids. I may be in my second childhood (and dotage), but I don’t do Trix. ;)

#FS2019coffeeride side bet #1 is done, Commonwealth Joe in Pentagon City with an espresso. There were four ACPD motorcycle officers there while I was. The about three hours later I saw two of them in Clarendon and was asked if I was the same rider they had seen earlier.

I think you mean #2 and #3 for the side bet? Your #4 (Blue Bottle) is your next post.

Yeah, I went back and edited after I remembered I couldn’t post more than five photos at a time.

I was hungover and forgot to record our first coffee stop at NSS-FC; guess that I’ll have to go back another day. While at Kindred, I had an Almond milk latte and Bike Friday got a Rock Bros purse for the New Year, thanks to @SaraBee!

Almond latte in my trusty travel mug @ Green Lizard Cycling in Herndon in the great company of @CBGanimal and @Reji, after the Powder Mill Hill climb and Reston Lakes Loop, en route to Leesburg to retrieve a lost credit card from our gravel ride last Sunday out in London County. We also raided the free bread samples around the corner at the Great Harvest Co bakery. My favorite was the chocolate [emoji515] brownie bread [emoji506] [emoji847]
