Because inquiring minds want to know … There are 19 teams with 10 members each. You’ll have to wait until the HH on January 10th to find out what team you’re on, but these are the team captains. We had more people volunteer to be team captains than teams this year, so some teams have co-captains. I’ll leave it up to those co-captains to decide if they want to co-captain together or if one or the other will just rule the roost as a single captain. Hopefully, this doesn’t lead to fisticuffs.

If you are a team captain, you should (but not to the best of my knowledge absolutely required) to do the following:

    1. Come up with a name for your team. I know in the past, this has usually been done in consultation with team members. But if you want to be an authoritarian dictator and just decide on your own, be my guest. I applaud and encourage such behavior. If you don’t come up with a name, your team will simply be: Team Number whatever. How boring.

    2. Create a thread in Freezing Saddles Winter Riding Competition for your team as a way to communicate with each other and make any team announcements that you don’t mind being public. Trolling your thread by other teams is fair game.

    3. Create a PRIVATE club on Strava for your team. This is an easy way for your team to see each other’s rides. And it’s a way to communicate without the rest of Freezing Saddles eavesdropping. If you don’t know how to create a private club on Strava, please PM me or email me the_penas at Yahoo dot com. Once you know who your team members are, you will invite them to join your club and approve their membership. If someone who isn’t on your team asks to join, tell them to go pack sand.

    Team 1 – Hannah Tsimmerman
    Team 2 – Riley Bartlebaugh
Team 3 – Mike Trumpfheller and LSG
Team 4 – Adam Hunter and Jon Renaut
    Team 5 – Frank Velez
    Team 6 – Neal Friesen
    Team 7 – Eric Shepard
    Team 8 – Samantha Brann
    Team 9 – Jessica Hirschhorn
    Team 10 – Brian Crowe
    Team 11 – Andrew Churella
    Team 12 – Chris Watson
Team 13 – Anne Wittenberg and Carol Calhoun
Team 14 – Bryan Close and Rod Smith
    Team 15 – David Jiang
Team 16 – Alan Adams and David Pomeroy
Team 17 – Millie Tansill and Erin Meter
    Team 18 – Joshua Armstrong
    Team 19 – Bill Harlow

I’m going to fight my co-captain Adam Hunter for superiority AND chuxtr for putting an “L” in my last name. Bring on the fisticuffs.

FWIW, when I make a club for a team, I initially make it open, but change it to invite-only once I’ve got all my teammates on it. (I kick off anyone who joins before then, but I tend to get my teammates on more quickly if they don’t have to wait to be approved.)

I’ve already created the club for my team for this year. However, the location will remain Super Sekret until January 10. (Yeah, those people with intelligence and diligence can find it, but those people aren’t the ones likely to start joining random clubs of teams that aren’t theirs.)

Fixed. Must’ve been daydreaming about Bernard Hinault, Laurent Fignon, and Greg LeMond … who all rode for the Renault team in the early 80s.

Hey Mike Trumpfheller, PM me, I had a plan for my team but now it looks like I’ll need to run it by you first. – the LSG Party candidate

FWIW, I also put that spare L in last year. I’m thinking it would be simpler all around if he just changed his name, for the convenience of the rest of us.

Yeah, I know I just became a target for his fisticuffs.

I know, everyone puts the L in. I stopped getting (actually) mad about it years ago.

The car company is French, my last name, I think, is Belgian. My 10th or so great-grandfather came over to the UK in the early 1600s, and my grandfather brought the name to the States for WWII RAF training. And here we are.

The only fisticuffs for team 16 will be if David Pomeroy insist I be solo captain!! :)
I am more than happy to let him take charge, since I’m not a very good motivator.
I am looking forward to meeting some of my team at happy hour. Hopefully we’ll get more than just a few folks.

I always thought it was “go pound sand”.
It’s amazing what you can learn on the internet.

“Pound sand” is definitely a thing. https://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/go-pound-sand.html “Pack sand” seems to be a less common variant. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pack%20sand%20up%20your%20ass

I’m new to the forum. How do you find out which team you have been assigned? Looking forward to meeting some of my teammates at the social!

Yup. It’s my race bike from the 90s (yes, I’m old!) Custom built frame by John Hollands (who has long since retired). Reynolds 653. Still a sweet ride.

It’s beautiful! Need to see it live in February
