The FS2019 ankle bands are here! Now you can be certain that the lunatic you saw riding with a joyful smile on his or her face despite the dark/cold/wind/rain/snow/sleet/ice is a fellow FS participant, instead of some other variety of lunatic.

The ankle bands are $2 each. They’re sturdier than the usual ankle bands, are easily adjustable, and have a hidden pocket for keys or emergency cash.

If you’d like to buy them in person, come find me at (1) FCC tomorrow at Swing’s, (2) the HP100 this Sunday between 10:00 a.m. and noon, (2) the Del Ray holiday lights ride this Sunday evening, or (4) the kickoff happy hour on Thursday, January 10. After the New Year, I’ll usually (although not always) be at my normal coffee clubs: CCCC, HDCC, WTFCC, and FCC.

If you’d prefer to have your ankle band shipped to you, send me the money via PayPal at https://www.paypal.me/komorebicycling. Add $3.50 to cover shipping (that’s the minimum USPS package rate, sorry). In the optional “Write a note” field, enter your mailing address so that I know where to send the ankle band.

Because I’ve gotten a couple of inquiries — yes, the stylish FS2019 ankle bands are still available for $2 each!

If you’d like to buy them in person, come find me (1) on Wednesday morning, infiltrating Team 10’s breakfast at Bob & Edith’s on North Kings Highway; (2) this Sunday afternoon, at the screening of Searching for Peace on 2 Wheels at the Vienna Community Center; (3) next Monday morning, at the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail cleanup at Belle Haven Park; or (4) at the dumpling ride I’m tentatively planning for Saturday, February 2 (details forthcoming).

I bought one at the kickoff happy hour and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality. Often when you get custom stuff like this in bulk that isn’t the case, but these bands are really nice. Well worth the $2 for the usefulness alone.

These are the best ankle bands that I’ve ever owned. Nice and long and don’t fall off. I’m likely buying out the stock at the end of the season.

Also highly recommend getting one by coming to the Friends if Mount Vernon Trail MLK Day Trail Cleanup. I will add a free high five if you do.

Fun fact: when you’re dumb enough to lose your handlebar light’s mounting strap (but not the light itself) while on vacation, you can use an FS ankle band and a rubber band to jury-rig a helmet mount that will allow you to bike home safely from the airport at 1:30 in the morning. Ask me how I know…

I saw the ankle band light strap in action tonight. After a 5 hour public meeting I didn’t think to take a picture of it.
