Doughneurers and Friends of Round Food,
I have worked out a route for us on Sunday! I think this counterclockwise route will be great and not take all day.
The Pre-Ride meeting for coffee is Vigalante Coffee in Hyattsville, we will be there around 8:30, enjoy a brew, and head into DC by 9:15, the route or trails used is to be determined.
The DC meeting point is UNION MARKET, we expect to arrive at or about 10:00am, and will enjoy B Doughnuts, a note about a pre-order will be sent to those who RSVP because these delicious doughnuts sell out fast, and we want some! Meeting will be at the picnic tables outside, assuming the weather is fair.
From B, we will loop through town hitting doughnut purveryors in this order: The Pretzel Bakery; Gregory’s Coffee, Beard Papa’s, District Doughnuts (Cady’s Alley); cross the river to Bayou Bakery in Courthouse; back to DC, all stops at this point are tentative, Astro’s Doughnuts; Right Proper Brewing Company; ride officially ends.
The Marylanders will pedal north somehow with Franklins Restaurant as the target destination. It is across the street from Vigilante.
I can add you to the DC-VA text message if you want progress reports and intend to join us for only some of the stops, please pm me with your mobile phone number.
RSVP, even if it is only a maybe, so we do not inadvertently miss anyone. Please indicate at which point you plan to join, Vigilante or Union Market, or en route.
Riders are welcome to join en route and exit when needed.

ParticipantThursday #fs2018donut ride started by wandering along Leipziger Straße in Bockenheim and deciding not to stop at a couple of the bakeries I had seen there. Instead I headed back along Bockenheimer Landstraße to Les Deux Messieurs Boulangerie, Café, und Bistro for a coffee and the best Schokocroissant I’ve had in Germany (maybe my best ever?), yum! And it was just warm enough to enjoy it outside.

I’m not sure which of the donut rides I can do so please put me on the list for both. I’ll be joining mid-ride. Working around the schedules out visiting kids.
Edelweiss I’m coming on both rides, probably meeting up at Union Mt. With Anne (awitt, quoted here.) I hate figuring out how to get places in DC…. And Anne’s competent and lives near me. 😆
Looking forward to seeing you and riding with you and everyone! You know I don’t come for the donuts…. 😅

ParticipantFriday Coffee (no club) and Doughnuts ride. I finally hit Snack & Weck in Bischofsheim for a doughnut today, third times the charm. While I believe it was decorated for Easter, hey, it’s green and tomorrow is St Patrick’s Day!

Since RSVPs are open: as of now, the #kidical and I are in for part of the 3/17 donut ride (she’s still jealous of the donut sticker I got last year). Most likely we’ll meet folks at Union Market and hit the DC shops.
OK – slight change in plans. Saturday (tomorrow) will just be me, thanks to a last minute birthday party that got on the schedule. But, since she still wants to go on a donut ride, the #kidical and I are (as of now) both in for Sunday’s ride. Meeting folks at Union Market in each case and peeling off before things leave the District.

ParticipantI will be attending the donut ride tomorrow leaving from Proteus and venturing around DC. If no one objects, I will activate my Strava beacon and post the link to this thread so those meeting up with us can find the “peloton” mid-ride. I understand that some may have security concerns about having their location broadcasted live (although it really would only say where I myself specifically am), so please reply or DM me if you have any concerns and I won’t setup the beacon.
Cheers, and happy donut hunting!

ParticipantWe had a dusting of snow this morning so I took the Pugsley out hoping for more. No such luck (but I skipped climbing to Saalburg or Großer Feldberg where there might have been more), but I did double dip on doughnuts. The first was at Back & Snack in Nieder-Eschback at mile 6.5. The second was at Franz Ruppel Bäckerei in the pedestrian zone in Oberursel. Both were chocolate.

ParticipantSunday Doughnut Riders,
I think I have all the committed riders in my private text messages, but the undecided among you need to know, we are delaying the start times slightly because the St Patrick’s day celebrants are in need of a bit more hangover recovery time.
We will now meet at Union Market at 10:30 and remain on place, with a group roll out at 11:00. Arrive as you wish. Get there by 10:30 if eating doughnuts, getting coffee, or later if you want stop 2 to be your first yummy treat of the day.
If you are not already receiving the Sunday Mobile Doughnut Alert messages in SMS, and want them, please pm me your phone number I will post our movements and estimated arrival times as we navigate through doughnut land.
Pre-riders should get to Vigilante Coffee in Hyattsville before our 9:30 rollout, I will be there about 8:45.
See you tomorrow!

ParticipantWe had a surprise accumulation of snow overnight, only a dusting had been forecast and we ended up with three to four inches. I was happy for a chance to ride in the snow and pulled the Pugsley out and headed to the Saalbau Bornheim for the ADFC RadReiseMesse and picked up a backpack load of touring brochures and radweg maps. Afterwards I wandered around the Bornheim neighborhood (having forgotten to restart my GPS), stopped for lunch in Nordend West, and looped around Grüneburg and Nidda Parks. Eventually I stopped at the Hinnerbäcker in Dornbusch just before they closed at 3 pm (the one up the street in Eschersheim was already closed) and got a Schokodonut.
