ParticipantI’ve been missing my gravel so I took a couple turnoffs from the Virginia Capital Trail on gravel drives to get almost 2 miles. The first was to Westover Church near milepost 25. The second was back toward a farm across from Sherwood Forest (President Tyler’s home) at milepost 17. I’ve been curious about a set of chimneys there which look like a burned down plantation house and here was another gravel drive to them which always has chain across. I really didn’t get a much better view than you get from the trail, so my curiosity is unquenched.

ParticipantRiding across DC today I decided to see how much gravel I got riding on the Mall from 14th St NW to 3rd St NW on the path along Madison. Subtracting out the strrt crossings I came up with .7 miles, so close. Of course that meant I needed to find another .3 miles. No problemo! I took the gravel trail around 2/3 of Greenbelt Lake (a full mile) and the some dirt and gravel taking a shortcut in Anacostia Park, Section G, about another .3 miles, so I’m golden!

ParticipantWhile Drevil is enjoying the sunny desert, I was doing a wet lap around the Mall this morning, 1.9 miles of which 1.6 miles were sloppy pea gravel. Could almost have been Niddapark except for all the buildings.

Ha
All this sun and warmth in the Southwest is making me homesick — not really.
Consular, will you be at the FS2018 Closing Happy Hour?

Nope, I head back to Germany tomorrow. A little sad, but not really.

ParticipantSouth West Ridge trail into the night with JoM. Southwestern side of Las Vegas: it’s really cool because you’re up high and overlooking the city.

ParticipantNo blue skies in Frankfurt. I had to go back out after my Garmin 500 lost today’s ride file. That gave me a chance to do a loop around Grüneburgpark with 1.1 miles of sloppy crushed stone. My earlier ride was actually dirtier, but was all on pavement. The farmers are plowing and leaving lots of muck on the trails.

ParticipantCowboy Trails, northwestern side of Vegas. Lots of cacti + shrubbery + log/stairs on the climb to the top. Only did a short loop because of the time.

ParticipantMeanwhile back home… conditions are actually pretty good.
https://www.facebook.com/proteusbicycles/videos/1645717928828251/PS. I’m going to go back and tag all my dirt rides later today, so at least I’ll maybe get toward the top of a leaderboard in something this season.

Participantdrevil is still in the desert and I’m still in the rain, just on the other side of the Atlantic! I got 2.05 dirtybiker miles in on today’s 32.3 mile loop. The first .23 miles was on gravel from the Walter Kolb tram 18 stop along the A661 to Goldpeppingstraße. Then I had .81 miles of mixed slop between Dortweil and Bad Vibel on the Nidda Route cyclepath. The remaining distances was three separate sloppy sections of the Nidda Route between Harheim and Eschersheim.
This was actually taken on the A661 gravel sidepath section last week, but I didn’t do any other dirtybiker miles that day.
The Nidda Route coming in to Bad Vibel from Dortweil. I have no idea what those bike signs mean here.
While not dirty biker because it’s paved, this brush clearing work has added to the mud on the trails. They closed about 100 feet of the trail for this work so I had to backtrack 3/4 of a mile and figure out my own detour. I came out just the other side of the flyover.
