Monday #FS2018coffeeride. I had plan on this being a dawn patrol in the snow, and at 3 am there was snow falling, but at 7 am it was just drizzle and thee was no accumulation so I went back to sleep. Then I was going to combine it with my ride to the Consulate for German classes and lunch with my wife, but guess what. Language classes are suspended for the duration of the government shutdown, no surprise there. Eventually I dragged my sorry self out as the sun was setting (although you couldn’t see it in the overcast gloom). I stopped at Bäckerei Hessenthaler in Eschersheim and got one of the last things they had, a Schokocroissant to have with my Phillips Senseo pod coffee. It was still pretty fresh even for the end of the day.

I headed to Wiesbaden for grocery shopping, a haircut, and Popeyes for lunch. On the way back I stopped at Bäckhaus Schröer in Erbenheim and had a quick coffee, no treats.

#FS2018coffeeride century. I stopped in Dieburg at mile 25 at Bormuth Der gute Bäcker and found out Hump Day Coffee Club was meeting. I’m not quite assimilated enough to ask to share a table, so I took my coffee and Schokocroissant out to the market square.

Thursday #FS2018coffeeride in the rain. Yeah, I was on the Pugsley because I was too lazy to change the flat on the Rove. First I had to go to class, but then I stopped at Awake on Friedberger Landstaßs in Nordend Ost.

Friday Morning Coffee Club ride with Roger past the Messe, along Europa-Allee, through Rebstockpark, and back via the Nidda. Stopped for coffee and doughnut at the Hausener Bäckstubb on Alt Hausen.

Saturday morning foggy parks loop ride stopping at WPS Café in Dornbusch at the end. The closest place for coffee and the sell the NY Times.

Sunday morning #FS2018coffeeride with flat. I ended up having to take a combination of S-Bahn and U-Bahn home from Bad Homburg. That gave me the opportunity to get my coffee and Schokocroissant at Der Premium Bäcker in the Bad Homburg Bahnhof.

Monday #FS2918coffeeride. Went to German class, had lunch, and then went in search of a new shop. This time I stopped at Costa Coffee on Europa Allee in the Premier Inn behind the Messe. I had a cortado, but unfortunately they did not have an #fs2018donut qualifying pastries at 15:00.

Tuesday #FS2018coffeeride. We stopped at the Café wewe on the Büchereibrücke in Bad Vilbel. The town’s public library is a bridge over the Nidda River and the café is part of that. Since we actually had sun for a change we sat at an outside table, I had an Americano, Schokobrot and a tomato and mozzarella panini while my two riding partners had kartoffelsuppe and milchkaffee.

I pushed a little bit on today’s ride to complete both the Strava monthly distance and climbing challenges. It was drizzly and very windy and I was having trouble finding a bakery/coffee place where I hadn’t already used one of the chain. I finally found a Philippi’s Backstube in Windecken at mile 31 before the climb up to the Hohe Straße and home.
