Saturday morning outing on my Pistola road bike (first time in six months). I stopped at the Bäckerei Flach in Oberhöchstadt at mile 9.5 of a 26 mile ride. Very busy place at 10 am.

Done this ride before FS, from my place to Barking Dog Coffee in Lyons. The coffee is good, the food better, and the atmosphere great.

Loved the cool older BMX cruiser sitting outside.

MLK Day coffee ride looping through the parks, out the Nidda, and stopping at the Bäckerei Seipler in Harheim for a große Kaffee and Kreppler mit Pudding

     Nordpark Bonames switchbacks

The young lady riding the other bike was just stopping to get her daily bread.

The Kreppler was sliced to insert the pudding instead of it being injected

A #FS2018coffeeride stop at the Henselbäcker in Rodheim on today’s ride. The mailing address is Rosbach, but the village is Rodheim.

#fs2018donut ride to Tasty Donuts & Coffee after my German class, I enjoyed their Scwartzwälder Kirsch doughnut with my coffee while waiting out a quick rain shower. Got blown sideways on my ride from the Consulate to the shop – 50 mph wind gusts! 😮

Today’s 71 mile ride was drizzly and chilly. We stopped at Café Bienenkorb in Bad Nauheim where both Cyndi and I had Schokobrot (chocolate croissants) with our coffee at mile 21. Then we decided to abandon the century ride with climbing and just aim for a metric.

Playing on the Pugsley with Cyndi, we rode to Oberursel then climbed the gravel forest trails in the Taunus over to the Römerkastell at Saalburg before descending to Bad Homburg for cappuccinos and pastries at the Café Louise.

FYI – the first DC Bluestone Lane Coffee location, at the new library at 23rd and L NW, has it’s soft open today, with a full open tomorrow. Only drinks today – they got their inspection passed at 4pm Friday and placed an order a 4:05 for delivery and prep today to be able to serve food starting tomorrow.

Coffee and drink menus below. Please note, they are cashless. Also…tons of bike racks out front.

I went with an iced mocha. Quite good – Lindi approved.adc5db80e2ce805452010b922597b100.jpgb895d9eda2300e202540493a2798f734.jpg33d00c488ff4e4dbeaddecedb2672d30.jpg

1/21 #FS2018coffeeride. As I was driving Cyndi to the airport, the sun broke through and shone down upon the fresh snow in the Taunus. So of course I came home and changed into cycling kit and headed for the hills. I rode to Oberursel, up into the forest, and over to Falkenstein. I had the pleasure of riding on the snow for about six of the 28 miles, the deepest being about three inches. Since I didn’t leave home until 10:30, most of the bakeries that would be open on a Sunday wee already closed by the time I went by and my countryside route didn’t pass very many cafes either. I gave in and stopped at the McCafé in the McDonalds at Schwalbach am Taunus. Very good coffee, tasty ciabatta with tomato and mozzarella, and a “candy” donut (red white and blue sprinkles on white icing).
