ParticipantThe wind was easing up a bit, but still strong and gusting at 9 am when I rode a loop through Falls Church and back via Duck Donuts where I got today’s coffee.

ParticipantA very disappointing coffee with my breakfast at the Urban Farmhouse in Scott’s addition in RVA, but the breakfast sandwich was very good. Rather weak and lukewarm plus it wasn’t the location where my son was working, oops. Had a nice ride through Richmond including climbing up the Libby Hill Cobblestones. Now it’s time to go back out for some beerneuring.

ParticipantTwo coffee rides today. This morning I went out to find coffee an a doughnut in RVA and it was basically a fail. First I was going to stop at Black Hand on E Brookland Park Blvd, but they were closed on Mondays. Then the Lamplighter in Scott’s Addition was there somewhere, I could smell the beans roasting but could not find a shop, maybe it’s their non-retail operation? The third I was trying to find was Deluxe Doughnuts, but I didn’t go far enough east on Broad. I circled back and somehow missed Ironclad Roasters by a block and there were supposed to be others as I was searching but I just wasn’t seeing them and I didn’t have the names and addresses with me (no smart phone). Finally I gave up and got a cup of swamp coffee from the BP Lucky Convenience Store across from my hotel for #FS20i8coffeeride 60.a.

Then this afternoon I was riding part of the Virginia Capital Trail from Four Mile creek Trailhead (milepost 40) to Sherwood forest (milepost 17) and back. On the return portion I stopped at Culs Courthouse Grille in Charles City Courthouse for a drip coffee and peach cobbler a la mode for 60.b.

ParticipantJust a short morning ride to join the Tuesday Hill group at Café Kindred in Falls Church for 61.a.

Later I went back out riding to New Deal Café in Greenbelt for lunch with a friend for 61.b.

ParticipantMy final US coffeeride of #BAFS 2018. Dropped off library books then headed to Buzz Bakery in Ballston for a quick cup. Not to pack and get ready for this afternoon’s flight.

ParticipantI’m bummed because I don’t get my #FS2018coffeeride #64 credit for today because my Garmin 500 lost the file (must have been jet lagged too)! I finally had stopped at the Schaan Bäckerei in Bad Vilbel.
So I rode basically the same route on Saturday and ran two GPS units. Strava synced both, so I’m claiming one as yesterday’a lost GPS activity file (unless someone has a problem with that). After all, there was photographic evidence that a ride happened.

ParticipantBasically a repeat of yesterday’s lost gps file with a couple small variations and stopping at a different bakery. Today it was Bäckerei Schmidt (no website) in Schöneck. I had my usual Kaffee cremè with a Sptizkuchen (French cruller) this time. I tried to stop there yesterday, but they are closed from noon to 2 pm weekdays and I was there at about 1:53.

ParticipantJust a short ride today scouting out local coffee stops to complete the final eight days of the challenge. It looks like I could probably achieve this with just a half mile(eight block) stretch of Leipziger Straße between Adalbertstraße and Appelsgasse, two miles from out apartment. There are (in no particular order): “Star” Coffee Roasters; Frazer Coffee; Back-Factory; Kröger’s Brötchen; Bäckerei Huck; Weiner Feinbäckerei (2 to choose from); Berry; Ciro Caffé plus a couple more and a couple chains I have visited in other places. Should be fun (or is it boring since it is the same street?).
But back to today’s coffee stop. I hit Café Ebruli on Eckenheimer Landstraße at the Glauburgstraße U5 stop for a Kaffe Cremè and slice of Apfelpiekuchen. Yum, but too big (almost
)!

ParticipantA rainy non-DST Monday in Frankfurt and I was totally unmotivated to get out this morning. I finally dragged my self out a little after three just in time for another brief rain shower as the sun was coming out. I stopped at Bäckerei Huck at the intersection of Eshersheimer Landstraße and Grüneburgweg for coffee and a Schokodonut before looping through Bockenheim and up the Nidda to Ginnheim and home.

ParticipantI hit the coffee early today on my 10π coffeeride. I hit one of the many Wiener Feinbäcker Heberer shops close to me, this on on Marbachweg and about a mile from our apartment. Just a Café Cremè and some sort of a cherry turnover to stand in for pie (which I couldn’t find).

ParticipantThursday #FS2018coffeeride started by wandering along Leipziger Straße in Bockenheim and deciding not to stop at a couple of the bakeries I had seen there. Instead I headed back along Bockenheimer Landstraße to Les Deux Messieurs Boulangerie, Café, und Bistro for a coffee and the best Schokocroissant I’ve had in Germany (maybe my best ever?), yum! And it was just warm enough to enjoy it outside. Then I rode another 14 miles.

ParticipantActually a double dipper ride today. I rode out the Hohe Straße towards Hanau where I had a late Frühstück with coffee (71.a) at Café Rösthof in the Forum Hanau shopping center (no relation to Rostov’s in Richmond, VA). They actually had a very limited menu and most of their seating was outdoors. Afterwards I managed to make a few wrong turns trying to get to the Main, but eventually made it. On the way back to Frankfurt I rode into Bischofsheim and stopped at Snack & Weck for a coffee (71.b) and doughnut.

ParticipantAnother double dipping coffee ride. I was hoping for a little more snow to go with the return of winter overnight, but just got a dusting. On the way out I stopped at the Back & Snack on Deuil la Barre Straße in Nieder-Eschbach. It might have been a small town McDonalds in the US with all the seniors stopping in for coffee and socializing. Then I rode up through bad Homburg hoping to stop at Espressobar Ernesto. The sign in the window said thry were open, but when I got to the door there was a note saying they wouldn’t open until 14:00 on 3/17. I looped around to Gotisches Haus, of course its coffee shop wasn’t open (museum opens at 14:00). I settled for a second coffee at the Franz Ruppel Bäckerei & Konditorei in the Oberursel pedestrian zone.
