What about on the last day? If we lock Judd in a closet maybe someone else will have a chance to catch him at FSLNHPP
I’m not going to do any Hains Point Laps this year.

You’re a bad liar
It’s probably a trap. But I really am trying to cut back on mileage in 2018. And except for the EnthusiGator, no one was anywhere near competitive on HP laps last year, so it would be nice if it was.

ParticipantHere are the prizes I plan to award.
1.Bike decorating will be judged in two categories:
(a) The You Light Up My [Bike] winter decorations
and
(b) The Swipe-Right Valentines BikeHow to play:
(a)Decorate your bike.
(b)Take picture(s).
(c) Post on the FS Bike Decorating thread for all to admire.2.Taste-testing
In my family we have a tradition of taste-testing everything — dark chocolate, pickles, mustards, strawberry yogurts, apple & cinnamon oatmeal, BBQ chips, whole wheat bread, cookies & cream ice cream, apples, types of breakfast cereals, maple syrups, etc.For Freezing Saddles, I will award a selection of taste-able items to the person who participates in the most FS taste tests.
How to play:
(a)Announce on the FS taste-testing thread that there will be a tasting at a coffee club or other venue. Specify the category. Easy options could include, e.g., milk chocolates, mints, gum, categories of popcorn/chips/crackers, cheese, pop tarts, chocolate chip cookies, etc.
(b)To count toward points in this game, there must be at least three samples in the designated category to taste. Either one person brings all three, or many people bring the items. If the meeting place sells the designated tasting category, then items can be purchased at that location. But sometimes it’s more fun to taste items from a range of locations. E.g., at Christmas we compared coffee cakes from a gas station, Best Buns, Baked & Wired, and Starbucks – classic and lean. So much fun.
(c) Taste tests can take place at coffee clubs or any other biker meet-ups. Or you can simply announce that you will hold a tasting at a particular place at a designated time. At least three FS riders must be present.
(d) Make a note of the items tested and the findings. After the tasting, please post the results on the Forum using the FS taste-testing thread. One option is to rate the items 1 (worst) to 10 (best). Pictures welcome!
(e) Those participating in the tasting should include the hashtag #fs2018taste in their ride title.
(f) You get the same points whether you supplied the treats or simply sampled those brought by others…unless there is a tie for the winning taster.
(g)It can be useful to carry a knife, toothpicks, napkins, and/or hand sanitizer, depending on the taste test involved.3.Fine, divine, and asinine signs
What funny, obnoxious, heartwarming, absurd signs do you pass on the road?
How to play: Take a photograph and post on the FS thread for Fine, Divine, and Asinine signs. If your phone (or fingers) are frozen, simply try and remember what the sign says and write it down later. Or visit it again on a future ride.
We will pick the winning entries in various categories.
My final two prizes are repeats from prior years:
4.Guardian Angels and Bike Samaritans
I’m one of those people who are head-over-heels grateful when fellow riders stop to offer help. So this prize is for those who share their technical expertise on the roads or trails, be it for flat tires, slipped chains, etc. If you stop and help someone on the trail or road, please make a note of it on the FS Bike Samaritan thread (let’s continue the thread from last year). You can use the hashtag #fs2018bs
You may also nominate other people. Sweeping broken glass, shoveling snow and ice, and removing tree-limbs from the trail are awesome too! You are a rock star.5.London Bridge Prize
This is the award for the most crashes. Hopefully there won’t be any recipients this year.
We call it the London Bridge prize, or… for Bruce fans, the “I’m goin’ down” prize. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fdZWbIsrFkI came up with this prize a couple winters ago after “winning” it myself.
If you crash, you can share the gory details on the FS London Bridge thread (we can use the thread from prior years). You can also designate the hashtag #fs2018londonbridge in your ride title.
Be safe, everyone. w&w

Sorry – due to a cut and paste error I dropped the last two PP from the list I posted earlier. It’s been fixed.

ParticipantSince it is, in fact, my idea, I will offer a Pointless Prize or two associated with DRASS (Daily Rider Adjusted Scoring System) as can be found on the Freezing Saddles website. Specific details of the prize TBD.

ParticipantJust an update on the team most rides leaderboard, for which I am offering a pointless prize.
Team 1 is #1. For now. But there’s still lots of time for other teams to chase them.

Another update. The battle for #2 is really tight, but any of these top 5 could still pull it out. Team 1 – One for the Road‘s lead may or may not hold up. 18 days to go.

ParticipantGet in your last Freezing Saddles Arlington Loops this weekend!
In order to have enough time before the closing ceremonies to get the data from the Gurus, process it, and prepare the winners’ customized “Arlington Loops” cereal boxes, I’ll need them to pull the data Monday morning, March 19.
Thank you, and Good Luck!

ParticipantLast minute Volunteer sought!
I was recently reminded that in past years we have given out prizes for top mileage male and female riders*. As of right now, no one has taken on the job of recognizing these athletes. If you would be willing to step up for these prizes, please let me know here or via PM. Thanks.
*Sorry, FS is stuck in a bigendered worldview. Don’t complain to me; I’m just the goat-roper.
