There shouldn’t be spacers between your chainrings. Triple chainring cranks haven’t used spacers since the early 1990s and they were only used for the smallest chainring. Is it possible you’re using a 9 speed chain with an 8 speed system? That might account for this. Have you made changes in the rings/chain lately? Are the chainrings worn or of different vintage?
It is difficult to diagnose something like this without actually seeing the bike. Sorry that I can’t be of more help.

Or could the bolts holding them together be loose, allowing them to separate a bit? They would probably make some noise if that were the case, but just another thought.
I had a similar problem recently (also with a triple). The cable had stretched (causing other shifting issues, of course). Taking the slack out of the cable seems to have fixed it.
I am having the same problem. Am using a double MTB crank (XT 785) and 10 speed rings, Wick Werks. Eveything is tight and mounted properly, it is just the differences ring spacing between Shimano and Wick Werks. This did not happen when I was running the Shimano chain-rings.
There is really nothing to do beyond being aware it can happen.
