Fresh Bikes: Brilliant or Crazy?

Anyone else notice the Fresh Bikes commercial on the Oprah-Lance extravaganza last night? At first I was, “Are they nuts?” But then I’m thinking, “Brilliant!” That show probably had more cyclists watching than any cable show in history, even more than regular tdf broadcasts. Now that western shop in Manassas, on the other hand….

My friend did that commercial actually:-) We were watching, not knowing it would be on, so it was a pleasant surprise. In fact, we thought it seemed like an ideal time for Giant, Specialized, Cannondale — anyone other than Trek really — to buy some ad time!

I stopped by the shop on my way home last night to buy my weekly pound of Skratch Labs secret drink mix and was talking to Scott about the commercial. It was brilliant. I do love that shop.

I propose a third option: obvious. It’s a too-obvious connection to a target audience to be considered brilliant. More of a no-brainer, IMO.

Well, I know there are folks on here that are risk analysis folk, but I’m guessing Freshbikes figured the obviousness outweighed the risk.
