ParticipantWhat about an award for the 3rd placed rider in the 3rd placing team (or something nebulous like that). It’s difficult to target that goal but might make things interesting towards the end.
Maybe some donuts for whoever records the most Hains Pt laps (use Strava segment data – although those without a GPS would miss out.)
For the summer riding award, since I’m currently the only nominee I might as well rub it in:

Palm Beach in Sydney. Where Home & Away is filmed. It was between about 70-80F that day, but felt warmer in the sun.Slight difference in bikes on show there. My riding pal had a lovely Fondriest. Mine is a factory direct model from Indonesia.

ParticipantBecause of the way things are calculated, sleaze rides are days with minimal distances rather than individual rides.

ParticipantThinking out loud:
* Most suspicious miles / ride (I believe someone’s GPS has them riding over the ocean at several 1000 feet)
* Best Mardi Gras outfit
* A Sandbag (person who deviated the most from their handicap – faking your handicap is known as sandbagging)
* Longest streak of consecutive days riding
* Highest per day mileage average
* Lowest per day mileage average
* Most times around hains point
* Most circuitious ride home (and the nomineee is Christopher)
* Special award for those few who actually ride during whatever snow storm we might actually get
* Slowest mph during the beer ride next weekend
* Longest chain of bicycles and trailers
* Meaning of Life award for the rider whose score ends with the numbers “42”
* Most times through the circle of doomed and survived
* Best winter kit
* Something to do with Ninjas
* Crazy Ivan award for most harrowing experienceYeah, I should stop now.

ParticipantI will happily deliver a sandbag to the rider who went over his or her expected mileage by the greatest percentage.

ParticipantMost visits to the leaderboard page? Pretty sure I am in the lead.

Participant– Award for most interesting shape made from a ride’s GPS map? (But, again non-GPS users are handicapped.)
– Pen and pad set for the person with most rides manually entered.January 19, 2013 at 2:56 am #960372KayakCyndi

Hey, I’m probably the candidate for that at the moment but I had to go to Hannover, Germany to find some snow to ride in!

hmmm, i can’t quite compete with 1000 miles over the ocean, but according to Strava, I took a random dip in the potomac today. It was only about 35F out, that’s pretty suspicious!

Guestbtw, ronwalf set the bar high, but my database will not be updating every 15 minutes. Once per day if y’all are lucky. Slacker volunteer, here.:p

ParticipantTeam with most crashes during #BAFS? (I believe Crit My Pants already has 2, and has had an appropriate avatar (graphic) since the beginning)

ParticipantI’m shooting for the “worst attitude” prize. Tonight’s ride should’ve given me a solid lead.

ParticipantLanterne Rouge. Person who actually competed, but completed the least amount of points.
Coldest ride. Would need to mash up strava & wunderground somehow.
Coffeenuer: Most rides with a stop at a coffee shop.
Looenuer: Most stops at a bathroom/porta-john. Possibly from next weeks beer ride.
Weekender: Person with the highest ratio of weekend miles to weekday miles. Some sort of award for those who don’t/can’t commute or ride during the week.
Nooner: Most rides during lunch hours (11am-2pm) during a weekday.
Heaviest Ride: Commuter with picture/scale verified heaviest bike/rack/pannier/trailer rides (idea is that this would be their regular commuting bike, no kid trailers or things normally not on the bike during their commute)And hey, I have a crash for #BAFS, even have the gratuitous strawberry picture as proof. Go Aye-Ayes!

sigh… normally wouldn’t admit this in public, but if it helps us get prizes….
If getting a bit disoriented riding home in the dark, not being sure if you’ve passed your turn-off or not, so doing a couple very slow U-eys in the trail to figure out exactly where on it you are only forgetting to unclip while doing it so falling over sideways on the bike counts as a crash, we have 3. Happened on this ride, http://app.strava.com/activities/37108815 where I just randomly stop in the trail for about 3 minutes?– that’s ‘cause of the falling over. If it helps it count as a crash, I skinned the knee I landed on a bit, and it’s highly likely it was seen by a driver or two on the GWP– I was on MVT with a headlight, taillight and bikeglow, riding around in a small circle on the trail then just falling over. Sure I was quite entertaining to anyone who saw it.

ParticipantSo just a reminder…. we need people not only to propose pointless awards but also to volunteer to do and award the pointless award.
