Unofficial Made Up Schedule along with made up, there is a slim chance we might follow, route. Note that this is a revised route per Pete.

    Saturday March 14
    * 9:00 am Gathering at Bikenetic (coffee and pie)
    * 9:26 am Depart (look it up)
    * Get lost in Holmes Run and Cameron Run
    * 10:38 am Arrive at MISHA’s in Alexandria for 30 min Pie break #1 (Buy your own)
    * 11:08 am Wander north through Del Ray
    * 12:12 pm Arrive District Cycle Works in G’Town for 30 min Pie Break #2 (Buy your own)
    * 12:42 pm Journey up the C&O
    * 1:08 pm Arrive Java Shack for Pie Break #3 (Pi Festival!!!!!!)

Participants who complete this tremendous feat will be treated to Pie at the end of the ride at the Java Shack. Please feel free to join us at any point in the ride.

This will be a coffee style ride. Maybe break into groups of faster riders and slower riders.

We will be enjoying the Acme Pie Co. pie!

This is a disorganized, unsupported ride, brought to you by the same people who brought you Freezing Saddles. Ride at your own risk. Follow any route. Join at any point. Leave at any point. It’s up to you. The most important this is: enjoy some pie

Those Freezing Saddles participants who complete this tremendous feat will be treated to Pie at the end of the ride at the Java Shack. Please feel free to join us at any point in the ride.

If you are planning on attending, please like – or say “in” – or join the ride on FB (trying to guess how much pie to order for the last stop)

IN [unless it is too late – in which case I will follow the group from a respectful distance and try to steal plates of half eaten pie and/or pick up any crumbs from the ground].

Since the plan is to bike through Holmes Run, maybe someone could bring a towel for Steve Claeys?

Obvious alternative is WOD to 4MR to Commonwealth to a slow few blocks on King to Misha’s. Quicker option for Old Town: Commonwealth to Daingerfield to Prince, then E to Patrick

There’s an alternate route that skips the 5 fords and connects to Holmes Run just past them.

Are y’all questioning Dirt’s ability to lead us to certain death?

Sadly, no. My 15 yo will be under his own power and control.

We actually had a pair of tandems at one point so we could ride 2 adults and 2 kids on 2 bikes (a Burley Zydeco Mixte and a Bike Friday family tandem).

But somewhere around 12 years old, kids change from “The tandem is the coolest!” to “OMG — No. just. no.” So we sold the Burley and are keeping the Friday, but only so I can ride it with Mrs. Alcova.

I hope at some point that changes again, though my guess is that point is 25-30 yo.

We just bought a Friday triple (!) from somebody whose kids hit that tandem aversion point. We haven’t taken it out for any significant rides yet but I do wonder if we’ll normally run it assembled as a double — turning that 9.5′ long bike feels really weird!

Count me “in,” especially for the pre-ride, sacramental pancakes.

The pursuit of pie transcends all.

You will be keeping the pie dry for us, won’t you?

Mao’s owner posted a revised route on the Pi Day FB page. Check it out. He promises to lead us to certain Pie!
