Kitty
ParticipantThe potential of a winter storm blowing in has less of an impact on my riding than the fact that Mamma-Kitty is blowing in from Michigan this Friday. If I can get out of work at a decent hour I will pop by HP for a lap before heading home, but otherwise I need to use every available minute to make it look like I know how to dust and we actually moved into our apartment…
(Despite actually moving into out apartment ~11 months ago)

I can totally relate (as someone whose house never really is cleaned except when we’re having people over)

This’ll be my first time at HP last night. What time do people start arriving? What is the time when the most people will be there?
Also, I’m going to drive so I can bring stuff. Salty or sweet? The social and snacks SAG vehicle should arrive 8-8:30 and will remain until midnight. In past years max numbers are typically there between 8:30-10. Then some of the weenies start peeling off.
You can get a sense by watching the previous year’s flybys

ParticipantI expect to make an appearance on my folding bike because… that’s how I started this year, and that’s how I’ll end it.

Cupcake pickup was a success, although I did briefly regret not hiring Rod:
See you tonight!

Arrrrrgh! Now I’m really bummed that I won’t be able to make it (work has conspired to make it so I can’t leave.)

ParticipantI will be in the comfort of my home moving my mouse in circles around the screen while watching something entertaining on Netflix and having a few drinks.
Maybe someone could post each time they do a lap, and I’ll have a drink to celebrate (while doing another circle with my mouse)!
And I’m not worried about drinking too much tonight. I’m pretty sure I don’t need to do a ride tomorrow!!

ParticipantI rode some Fains Point (faux Hains Point) laps tonight in spirit with everyone doing laps at the actual Hains Point to close out Freezing Saddles 2018!
Here are my pics from tonight. Freezing Saddles was fun, even though I wasn’t in the DC area to enjoy it with y’all. However, I will be returning for a week from Saturday, April 28 through Saturday, May 5, so I hope to ride with y’all then!

ParticipantCongrats to all on finishing the competition. Looks like you had some actual winter this year! I enjoyed following from afar.
Last year’s Freezing Saddles was formative in turning the bike into my default mode of transportation…. it now feels silly to get around any other way. I hope at least a few of you had that experience this year, too!

ParticipantSteve,
Thanks for hosting us all last night! I can now scratch “riding at HP at night, i.e., dark and cold” off my bucket list.
Sorry I couldn’t stay until the very end, but I had a very early morning yesterday and again today. Running on fumes (and a triple latte!)
Cheers,

ParticipantHey stranger ! Yes, I really change to bike as my default mode too in the last year or so. Freezing Saddles since Jan. -and all the fun surrounding is – sure helped!
True story: I was walking around Dupont Circle recently, where I normally bike, and found myself walking in the bike lane – instead of on the sidewalk. OOPS!

ParticipantAt least 40 people were there riding around in circles, stopping for cupcakes and donuts and other snacks, and toasting the end of another Freezing Saddles season.
My “registration list” showed representation from 15 different teams (plus a couple of unaffiliated riders, including a child). The Titanium Geraniums had 6 representatives and Heptadecaphobia had 5.
Here’s your host, appropriately attired for the occasion.

(Josh & Edelweiss from Primal Penguins)Here are the 13 who were there at the stroke of midnight. Darkness, sucky phone camera, toasting beverage and cold hands make these pics pretty lousy. Good luck identifying them.
