ParticipantY’all should’ve gotten an email, but here are all the details. Please RSVP to: k.auer@contebikes.com so Conte’s knows how many people to expect.
Yes, after two long years we are finally having a happy hour, thanks to Conte’s Bike Shop, which generously offered to organize and sponsor it!
When:
Sunday, March 27, 2022
5:30-7:30pmWhere:
Conte’s Falls Church
1118 West Broad Street
Falls Church, VA 22046
(703) 639-0343Ride your bike, drive your car, or take metro (West Falls Church station) to get there.
Details:
– You must be vaccinated against COVID (and boosted if it has been long enough to allow it). Conte’s staff will be checking vaccination status and wrist-banding so you can go in and out of the store as you please
– Conte’s will provide some light refreshments and snacks
– If you want something more “substantial” to eat or drink (including adult beverages), you can order from Taco Rock next door (plus there are a few other food options, e.g., Jersey Mike’s, in the shopping center) and bring your food/drink back to the store
– There is outdoor seating in front of Conte’s/Taco Rock if you prefer to gather/eat outdoors (weather permitting)
– We will kick the event into gear ~6/6:15pm. Lots and lots of winners will be announced! And socializing before, during, and after!
– Zoom broadcast for those who can’t attend in person (details separately on the forum)
– We’ll kick everyone out ~7:30pm so the Conte’s staff can clean up so the store is ready for business Monday morningPlease RSVP to: k.auer@contebikes.com
Can’t make it in-person?

ParticipantI assume there was no Zoom for final HH; just the in-person at Conte’s (didn’t see anything in forum except the prior messages in this thread saying details to come).
Have fun everyone!!!
Until next year…..keep riding!Kris

There will be a Zoom of the presentation, although it will be one way, as opposed to allowing for interaction. But at least Zoom participants will get to see who won what prizes.

ParticipantFellow bikers in Alexandria! Boomer and I are hosting a convoy riding out to Falls Church. The wheels will roll from the South Four Mile Run Park entrance (after the baseball fields) on Mt Vernon Ave at 4:15 PM. Fellow bikers from Arlington can join us at the W&OD Trailhead at 4:30 PM or the Bluemont Caboose at 4:45 PM. Rendezvous points can be calibrated accordingly depending upon who/where wants to join.
Best,
SerdarP.S. I shamelessly stole Boomer’s text from his email to me.

And from the forgotten northern corner of Alexandria

ParticipantFellow bikers from DC and N. Arlington
(borrowing this idea from Boomer & Serdar)I will lead a convoy from Rosslyn out to the HH. If you are in DC, cross the Key or Roosevelt Bridges and meet at the SW corner of Lynn and Langston. If you are in Arlington, meet in Rosslyn or catch us along the way at the estimated times shown below.
Wheels up 4:25

Estimated times:
- Rosslyn roll-out – 4:25
- Custis & Nelson bench and water fountain (by the two ponds just east of the two sisters) – 4:40
- Custis & W&OD intersection – 4:55 (or catch the other convoy; we may converge here)
- Basketball court by Benjamin Banneker Park and EFC Metro- 5:05

Can you clarify the start location? The baseball and softball fields are at the end of Commonwealth Avenue.

KeymasterI added this to Chuck’s details post above but here it is separately. This will mostly be a one-way video feed. I’ll be on as host, but will mostly just have the camera pointed at the prize presentation.

ParticipantAttention cyclists in the Reston, Vienna, and Fairfax areas (and beyond): I’m going to lead a convoy to the Sunday Happy Hour. We will leave The Bike Lane at 4:30 pm. We will be passing through Vienna around 5 pm. If you want to join us in Vienna (at the Vienna Train Station, off the W&OD near Ayr Hill Ave) please let me know (by responding to this thread by 3 PM on Sunday) so I know to look for you. Otherwise, we will just pass on through Vienna without stopping or paying attention to our time of arrival in Vienna.

Sorry for the typo, Casey! And thank you for asking to clarify. We will meet at the end of Commonwealth Avenue.

We plan to ride west on 4MR trail to Shirlington, and then take the W&OD trail out to Falls Church until Grove Ave where we will take the back streets to Conte’s (to avoid riding on Leesburg Pike/Rt 7).
