Husband had an unexpected work trip come up yesterday, so I wont make it since we got word too late to schedule a second walk for our dog tonight :( BUT I did schedule a second walk for the dog tomorrow so I can make the final Crystal City Wednesday night spins, so I hope to see some of you there!

Oh awesome. I had it wrong on my personal calendar (I really need to just sync the FS calender to my phone…). I can still make it then since he’ll be home Sunday.

Sorry, these past few weeks have been so nuts at work I can’t keep my head straight about anything right now.

Unfortunately, at that time I have an organizing committee meeting for the Phoenix Bikes Makers Ball (April 20, 6:30pm in Crystal City) where I expect to see you all in 3 weeks. Tickets here.

REMINDER – The Freezing Saddles Closing Celebration is tomorrow (Tuesday the 4th)
So far we have about 80 RSVPs. Please join us!

    Date: Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Time: 6 to 8 pm (officially) but we’re welcome to stay ‘til 9:30 or 10 pm.

Location: Bier Baron Tavern, located at 1523 22nd St NW, Washington, DC (between P and Q Streets on the east side of the street)…this is near Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom in DC. We will hold the award ceremony on the stage, starting at about 7 pm. The room has audio-visual capacity….a screen, a juke box, a sound system (we can hook up an iphone or other gadgets), projector, etc.

Cover charge (suggested cash donation): $10 per person…all of this will cover food. For our opening happy hour, the Bier Baron zeroed out any charges for the private room and wait-staff, so we paid only for the food (which was $800 total). We have $200 left over from January which will go to food as well…so there will be MORE food this time, and we will stagger it in batches throughout the evening. The buffet of finger food will include soft pretzels, quesadillas, and falafel sandwiches.

Bike Parking: Bring a U-lock and any other locks you’ve got, ‘cause we will be parking our bikes on the street. Do not park INSIDE the neighbor’s garden – please keep your bicycle on the outer part of the railing if you lock up to any private enclosures. Before the prior happy hour we did an intensive search for bike parking facilities in the area, but without much luck. However, there are 15 racks between Bier Baron and Dupont Circle, which will hold about 70 bikes, plus assorted poles and other things to latch onto. There is also Capital Bikeshare, assuming you can find a space in which to dock your bike. And Bier Baron is located near the Dupont Circle Metro, if you opt to take transit instead. If you come on a folding bike, you can bring it inside.

Helpers: Feel free to come early if you’re available to decorate and set up the room. I plan to be there around 5 pm. I’ve left a message with the manager at Bier Baron to try and make sure we can get in early.

Please reply on this thread if you’d like to join in the fun (and please indicate the number if you’ll be bringing friends/family). It’s fine to show up if you’ve not RSVPed – the more the merrier – but it’s great to have a head-count in advance so nobody goes hungry. All are welcome.

See you tomorrow! w&w on behalf of your hardworking FS social committee

Sadly it looks like I am not gonna be able to swing it for HH tomorrow. I will miss hearing w&w’s awards presentation. Those are always the best.

If anyone is very nervous about parking their bike on the street, the manager at Bier Baron has told me we can designate a space to put your bike inside the bar where we are celebrating. Please reply on this thread or PM me so I can get an estimate of how many bikes we may need to bring inside.

If you’ve got adequate locks to park it outside, of course that’s the first choice plan. I will be using my U-lock and a cable. It’s a relatively safe area and there are lots of us around…

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! w&w
