Yes, but even if he really did do that ride in 7 seconds, his average speed for 2015 is still under 10 mph, because the ride represents less than 2% of his total miles.

Fine, today’s sleaze mile will be 7 hours long
It won’t make much difference, because the calculation is being performed incorrectly. The way to fix is to go back and edit the ride in question with a more realistic time (not that I don’t believe you actually rode 550 mph, but on the off chance that’s a typo). Or delete it and replace it with a new one.

ParticipantAh, that’s my favourite graph on FS! Although I have to admit average speed is pretty meaningless. Aside from snow/ice conditions and even kidical towing I think one of the years I had the Arlington mardi gras parade “ride” included in my data.

Average speed is the only thing I’m near the top of… don’t go using common sense and raining on my parade.

Why would I want to fix it. I like being a big dot on a graph!

ParticipantI think this is bringing up a correct bug in the algorithm. I think “we” are just averaging the averages, which obviously is completely wrong — or at least has a very different meaning.

ParticipantI don’t believe anyone ever stepped forward to finalize this. I am not a graphic artist, but here are a couple of photos that might be usefully incorporated into the logo if someone wants to use them. They may be copyrighted, but I long ago copied them to my hard drive and have no idea where I originally found them.

ParticipantHere are a couple of photos that are likely copyrighted (I copied them from the Interwebs long ago, and do not recall where I found them). But if they are useful to someone who is a graphic artist and wants to work on the FS logo, here you go.

I seem to remember having a discussion with you about this two years ago in the first Freezing Saddles.

Yeah, this does ring a bell. Perhaps it was the other chart that got fixed. I see the bug in this query, though. I will get it fixed.

Hmmm, well I don’t know whether I had ever fixed this anywhere, since I was stupidly doing “average of the speeds” for all of my speed averaging calculations. For most people the numbers are similar, but obviously total-distance/total-time is the correct formula
Sorry, folks! Am a little embarrassed to make such a basic math mistake — glad I’m not planning to take the SAT again!
Edit: to clarify, I fixed the issue.

ParticipantDo bike rides in other locals count? I have a work trip to Manchester, NH, coming up and will check my folding bike if I can get some mileage/days in that way.
