Please keep in mind that this is a game of the forum, by the forum, and for the forum. The whole point is a bunch of friends coming together to goof off. We hope that people will join in the reindeer games, come to happy hours, participate and even organize pointless prizes and side bets, and join in group rides.

Take care inviting weirdos to join. If you dont think the weirdo is going to join in the forum, or come to a happy hour, or join a group ride – maybe dont invite them. If on the other hand the weirdo likes reindeer games, and is interested in adopting a puppy, maybe they are perfect. Every year new people assimilate into our community during FS. But there are also those who sign up, never show up, never play – and we then have to deal with how to fix our game.

Registration goes through December 24th. People who buy me pie at FCCII will be put on a good team. The rest of you will be put on Steve O’s team.

Storing this somewhere where people can see it

I think this was covered by the instructions, but if not:

    (1) You need to authorize the bafs app to read your data. http://freezingsaddles.com/authorize
    (2) You need to join the BikeArlington team on Strava: http://www.strava.com/clubs/bikearlington

Once you have done both these things, you should see your rides start showing up on the leaderboard.

I am not certain I like this FS concept… :p

Really? I was expecting much worse and actually found myself thinking about how nice a night it was! Clearly last winter warped my view of “nice”.

The forecast this morning said it would be colder in the PM than the AM, so I had to pack my heavier base layer to wear this evening. The wind wasn’t as bad as I anticipated, but it certainly helped get me warmed up. Also, TGFWS (Thank Gore for WindStopper).

I registered well before the 24th and was on the freezing saddles.com site up until s few days ago. Does anyone know why I got bumped off? Did a sub replace me? I’d like to stay registered if possible and am super bummed that I’m apparently no longer in the system.

Probably you need to re-authorize the Strava application — and join BikeArlington Strava club. I removed accounts that had no team associated with them from the database, assuming those were holdovers from last year.

    Just go to http://freezingsaddles.com/authorize .

Next year, I propose we create a “2016 Freezing Saddles” Strava club and have everyone join that. The problem with using the BikeArlington club as a temporary team to test the system, is our database is full of authorizations from last year’s users and they are [still] members of BikeArlington. So right now we’re collecting rides from more athletes than current participants.

Anyway, just re-authorize the app. Once I have a list of participants and team IDs this will all work itself out — the BA team will be removed and only actual participants will have their rides count. We go back to Jan 1 (EST) in Strava, so don’t worry about past rides not counting. We also resync more comprehensively on a daily basis, so if you need to upload old missed rides or fix manually entered rides you can do that too.

It felt REAL cold to me too! Although I was dumb and decided to make my short 3mi commute in my work clothes and shoes instead of changing into something warmer. Lesson learned!

Same thing happened to me. Yesterday I was #26 on the BA Strava leaderboard, and now I’m no where to be found:-(

Huge Gore Windstopper fan here too. I did the same (packed heavier base layers for trip home), and after I read your post, realized I wore three Gore Windstopper products on my way home tonight – jacket, facemask and hood. I was warm and comfy for the whole commute (with a crazy assortment of clothing that works for me).

(Turns out that hood is Pearl Izumi wxb, but similar in effect.)

My problem, as usual, was the opposite. Left work heading westbound into the wind, wearing nothing on my head save my helmet, base layer top and bottom, jersey top and thermals on the bottom. Gloves and booties. I didn’t try to ride hard because my left thigh is messed up, but nonetheless I was damn sweaty by the time I got to Wilson on the WOD, and stayed that way the remainder of the ride.

That’s because yesterday (Sunday) goes for last week’s numbers, and today (Monday) begins with a clean slate. There’s a tab where you can look at last week’s results.

I am actively doing some work on the site, which may explain some missing data. If you are still missing in 15 minutes or so, send me a PM with your name on Strava.

Ditto here. I was super-comfortable on the ride in this morning, but this evening on the way home I was wishing I’d brought my Moose Mitts and Boots.

Come on DC, get these roads clear enough so I can get a quick CaBi ride in this afternoon.

Nice meeting Steve this AM on the Custis trail… interesting commute into work in the snow. Worst bit was probably the Key Bridge that had not been cleared at all.

    It was fun… now, this afternoon… ;)

Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need roads.

How was it? I think I should be fine heading up 7th from L’Enfant Plaza to Mt Vernon Square or something to get the kids, so my string of BAFS ride days should continue.
