But, Dairy Godmother is over a mile from the Wayne F. Anderson Bikeway!
Personally, I would rather ride there on Commonwealth than on Mt Vernon, so the Wayne F. Anderson Bikeway is part of the preferred route for anyone coming from points west and north of Shirlington, and coming from Crystaly City and points north.

Sounds good; meet at 6:45 PM at the Braddock Rd/Potomac Yard Trail bollard (near this: https://goo.gl/maps/omB3zgh2qkF2) for some history and ice cream! The view should be nice when we get to Prospect Hill (close to sunset), too.
I’ll text you if I get held up.

I do not believe it is “officially” open, but it’s been rideable for weeks. Now easier than ever, though, to go around the signs–no lifting bike over fencing or ducking under yellow tape shenanigans. (Here’s a ride I took on it back on June 23: https://www.strava.com/activities/1051088903)

ParticipantY’ALL.
It’s official!
From my inbox:
“The Four Mile Run trail from Mt. Vernon Avenue to S. Eads St. has re-opened ahead of schedule, because the majority of the construction work for the restoration project is complete. There will be some short term closures (1-2 days) as the final tasks for the project are completed in August. DES will share the dates of the short term closures in advance to the BikeArlington community. Please be aware of the potential for the trail to be closed, and follow the detour as required. We appreciate your patience as we finish the final work on the Four Mile Run Restoration project.”
So stay tuned for notes of those short term closures, but otherwise, it’s smooth sailing!

ParticipantThe newly-reopened Four Mile Run trail is wonderful. Not sure if they’re 100% done yet, but there does seem to be a bit of gravel spread around the new asphalt, coming from the power plant/water treatment facility. It would be nice if they swept it or got a crew with a leaf-blower to clean it off as a final step.
