ParticipantThere’s a sticky thread at the top of this forum with how to report issues on various trails.
Arlington Trails: trails@arlingtonva.us or 703-228-6524

ParticipantIs that a little slice of Alexandria? The Arlington/Alexandria border between Shirlington Rd and the former Berkeley Apartments site is very confusing.

Interesting question, the border does get a little jaggy there.

However, I’m pretty sure Arlington manages the 4MRT. Alexandria has the honor of looking after the Wayne F. Anderson Bikeway on the other side of the creek. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.
And thanks southrunslug, the section under Glebe Rd is a rutted dangerous mess.

ParticipantIf you want to have fun, call 911 on that part of the trail and watch as both Arlington and Alexandria police and EMS are dispatched and then negotiate who has jurisdiction. I found an incoherent guy lying in the trail there a couple months back (turned out he was just very inebriated) and we had 2 cops and 3 EMS folks from both jurisdictions show up.

Participantginacico, whose border rendition is that? If you look at any of Alexandria’s current maps like the Parcel Viewer it’s pretty clear Alexandria thinks Arlington owns the northern 4MR trail west of Route 1. Arlington’s map seems to agree.

Google Maps. It’s accuracy may be questionable.

Yeah, I noticed that if you look up Arlington in Google Maps and zoom out enough to show the county’s borders, it shows the border of Arlington and Alexandria wrapped around Four Mile Run all the way up Wilson Blvd., as if Alexandria owns the stream. It’s weird.

ParticipantThe boundary line follows the old stream path, before the 1970s Four Mile Run channelization project. @baiskeli 180796 wrote:

It’s a bit above the 38th parallel and 36° 30′, but below the Mason-Dixon line.
