An update. I stopped by to check on the paving this afternoon and spoke to one of the contractors. He told me that most of the work on the trail is complete. (He gave me permission to step out on the trail to take the photos below.)
The section of the 4MRT east of Eads might be open later today.

The City is planning to repave the section of the trail (Wayne Anderson Bikeway) from Route 1 west to the bridge this summer.

Making the completion of the Arlington side trail particularly timely, though the City says their repaving work will be done so fast we won’t even notice the trail outage.

Thanks. BTW do you know if they think those steep drop-off shoulders, like the ones from the bridge to Mt Vernon Ave, are acceptable? I nearly wiped out the other day because of that…

ParticipantA friend who happened to be riding home from the baseball game mentioned that he might have gone around the barriers, and informed me that the trail is completely paved.

So, cyclo-cross practice has to look for a new home?

Yes. Why are you sad about this?
Because I enjoy jumping the “tha-dumps”… 😎
Jumping over smooth pavement is just not as awe inspiring… :p

But it’s nice to have that connection to Eads open again! I’ve missed it.
