4MR was open for business this morning from Eads and to the west. No signs, no indication of detour, etc.

I rode the detour this AM (though some folks Strava seems to indicate that the existing route is not yet closed?) and I must say, the signage is terrible. A map from what looks like a PPT on the issue is a fine thing to have, but it is not an adequate detour sign. For an idea of what good signage would look like, see the Safetrack signs. It needs to be big, bold, and simple…

    You mean something like this?

If good German graphic design is involved I gotta say I’m partial to this one.

it looks like it’s open, but they posted the signs letting us know what the detour will be, when it detours, but there’s no date. The signs don’t actually mark the detour. The website says September 20, which is actually today, so it may be closed on our way home. I did pass a guy in construction gear doing something behind the power plant this morning, so maybe they’re closing it off right now? Hopefully when they do, they actually label the turns because I was confused looking at the map.

There’s a link about way down this page with a map, so you can see it without getting off your bike to read it on the trail :)

I’m still seeing Strava tracks on the normal 4MR to/from the airport. Does anyone have any idea when the trail will be closed and the detour mandatory? I have been using the detour, but if it is not necessary, I am happy to skip it.

It’s been open all this week, no construction equipment to be seen other than the plastic fencing.

Not sure when the official closure will happen. I went through there twice yesterday. They’re putting up orange fencing around areas where presumably they’ll be working, but so far the trail is open and they haven’t enforced the detour. Yet.

Has this detour been started yet? I know a bunch of folks who are planning a ride tomorrow that goes through there and it would be great to know if they are being detoured or not. Thank you!
