ParticipantThanks Joe. Have seen some formatting quirks but just chalked it up to using IE9

ParticipantI fixed the settings link! I had to use the monkey’s paw AND the book of spells.

ParticipantI’ve seen some new things that I like. I’ll document them when I have had a chance to play a bit more. Attaching photos and linking photos is new. I like the new interface.
Thank you for your work on this. It seems like it goes smoothly.

ParticipantWill this now enable the ‘thumbs up’ feature?
July 27, 2011 at 7:38 pm #928677Joe Chapline
Participant@Will: upgrading the software was step 1. I just installed an add-on feature to allow “likes.” I still need to figure out the configuration. Now I see that there’s a little thing to display the number of likes under each post, but I don’t see how to “like” a post. I also see that some other tools are missing from the top post in the thread. (Like the “reply with quote” link for your post.)
I’m going to try to figure it out. This is a software modification I found, I don’t know if it’s any good, or what problems it might cause. So no promises that it will stay.
There will not be an actual “thumbs up” symbol, but the idea is to allow us to say we like a post without creating a new post.

Participantamericancyclo, where did you find the control to like a post?
Also, I’m working on background colors now — I was confused about which links go with which post. The “reply with quote” link is after the post, not before.

Joe, it’s on the right under the join date/location/post count, the count that is. The “like” is a nav bar under each post
And it is a “thumbs up”
That the snap in I found?

What do you know, it IS a “thumbs up.” The problem with my finding the button might have been that I hadn’t specifically given admins permission to use it. I think the modification is from the same authors as the one you found, but it’s for vB 4.0.1 and above. The company/authors are DBTech.

ParticipantHmm.. Somehow got into a “Moderation tools” menu. Unless I’m a moderator and don’t know it. Seeing if I can duplicate it. You changing things right now? May just have caught something on a refresh

Yes, I’m changing things, trying to fix the background colors. I have a test login, I’ll take a look later and make sure mod tools aren’t showing.

ParticipantCan’t duplicate it again. Actually had one of Ann’s posts up with the option to delete. She’s right on that fine member status line, was tempting to knock her back down… LOL

ParticipantLooks like the “like” functionality is working. Smart enough to not let you like one of your own posts. What’s the matter with colors? Looks fine in Safari.

I can’t get the post background to be a different color than the body background. It separates the body of the post from the member information and the links under it — confusing which pieces go together. I think I have the correct style variable, it just doesn’t work. I’m pretty sure this broke when I installed the modification. I’ll figure something out.
