Well, I am not sure about “awesome”. It’s 4:47 so I have 13 minutes to get dressed and roll out …

I’m glad I’m not the only one that checks the bike forum on my phone when I should be getting ready in the morning.

ParticipantAnybody thinking about the “late shift” for FMCCIII? (meaning after 8am)
August 22, 2013 at 10:50 pm #979165hozn
ParticipantI think GuyC and I are hitting up some singletrack on the way in, but don’t think we’ll be any later than 7:30. I have to head out by 8am, unfortunately. (Another 8:30 meeting.)

No, it’s my last Friday with the kids before school begins, so I won’t be commuting or riding. Mike O from FABB may join this week.

ParticipantFor those of you (Guy, Hzon) who have expressed concern (or considered an intervention!) about the junk (ham radio gear) I had on my bike last week, I weighed it last night after the Reston Century, using my precision (2 decimal places!) Deal-Xtreme digital scale. All-up weight, with 3 full water bottles, is 31.2 pounds (someone guessed 30-pretty good!) The radio-related gear is 7.7 pounds. 18 pounds without saddle bag and 2 empty cages. Since I like having power data from rides (to tell me what a miserable specimin I am as a rider when I check Strava), that is as low as I will get. I do need to drink fluids on most rides, be ready to repair a flat, but don’t have a full time domestique or support car, so 20-22 pounds is probably my bike’s ready-to-ride weight, depending on how much water I carry and how paranoid I am about flats and mechanicals.

ParticipantI thought the gear was cool
Hope everything went will with sag/support operation.
I will miss this Friday as I will be up in RI, bit look forward to the following FMCC3.

ParticipantIs this still going on? Just signed up here and found this thread. I pass by the GL every morning and can always use another cup of coffee. I’d also love to meet some of you fellow commuters out on the trail.
Thanks.

ParticipantHad a very nice time this morning at GL. Met Andrew, Hans, and Jeff. Nice way to split up my commute.
Also when I got to work I learned that four other commuters from my office met up at the Herndon caboose about the same time. Sounds like bike commuting and Herndon DO go together.
Thanks, Gentlemen, for welcoming me to the FMCC III.
Mike
