Well, attendance was a little sparse but GuyContinental and K1SG were (also) there holding it down. In other news it looked like Difficult Run was about to overflow its banks.

Surprisingly, Elden St/Centreville Rd where it crosses under the Toll Rd was not flooded as of 0745-0800. I also need a rain jacket that works better at transporting sweat when it’s above 70 deg, or man up like you guys and just channel my inner aquatic critter on days like this. And the Green Lizard Cycling shop jerseys look very nice.

I would’ve been there, but I think it would’ve been poor form to ride a nice borrowed steel bike in the rain, when the owner rarely does so.

Yeah, I told GuyC I assumed that was the reason. I wouldn’t have ridden a borrowed bike either — even if it wasn’t steel.

I did spend a few extra minutes this morning to put on fenders; that proved to be a good decision. I was pretty sure that the benefits of fenders were all in my mind; what I’ve come to appreciate is that it isn’t the extra water I care about, it’s the road grime. My WABA jersey is very unhappy about the muck that got sprayed all over it last week.

    Roll call-

Hans is doing some silly 4:30 am Leesburg excursion, THEN going to FMCCIII, THEN going to work, I’ll be there with a friend at about 7:15-7:30. Leaving Revolution bikes in Clarendon at 6 sharp.

Who else? Culimerc? I had lunch with your brother today thus should have coffee with you tomorrow and round out my Hoofnagles for the week.

If Steve Eunpu shows up, give him props for reaching the Diamond Level (5000 pts) in the National Bike Challenge, a milestone he will reach tomorrow. I described him as our Super Domestic in another post, but he is our GC contender now. A ringer, I “met” through Strava and invited him to join our team. He doesn’t post here, but I have ridden with him. Good guy, gets up early to put in 40 miles every morning before work. A bicycle rider, if one can be a rouleur without being a racer, it’s Steve.

Yup, I met him a few weeks ago- he’s joining Hans for a quick jaunt from Vienna to Leesburg and back before coffee.

Yeah, it’s more that I am joining Steve for his ride tmw. He does ride a ton!

We should roll back by 8am to GL, maybe a little sooner.

And we talked about bundling up for winter. What else can you do on a day like this?

Looks like GuyContinental and I (and Greg) will be rolling in to GL around 7:15.

I suppose it’s becoming standard enough now that it’s only worth calling out the exceptions.

I was hoping to join this week… I have an appointment at 0900 in Vienna. No such luck. A friend is sick and I’m taking over dog walking duties for a while. :D
