ParticipantMy bike set up with a dynamo driven B&M IQ Cyo R and taillight. I also have mini blinkers on my helmet (front and rear) more for attention. In the picture, the headlight isn’t at full strength, but is showing the “standlight” intensity. I’m also wearing a reflective vest.

Here’s a video of my light in action on the road and trail. As Starduster mentioned above, you can see the sharp cutoff of the shaped beam. Unfortunately, my GoPro doesn’t have great low light sensitivity, so it doesn’t catch the spilled light outside the main beam that I can see while riding. You can get a sense of that with the way the signs are lit up, though.

Here’s me. The jacket (Gore), gloves (Gore), seat post bag (Banjo Brothers) and trunk bag (Topeak) have some reflective bits. I added 3M reflective tape to various parts of the frame. Also, the Illuminite tights from my running days (at least ten years old) seem to still have some reflective oomph to them.
Please note the piece de resistance: the hi viz, light up ankle strap (Nite Ize). I have one on each leg, so motorists and zombies can see the lights bobbing up and down as I pedal (visible from all directions, I think). I have gotten lots of positive feedback on these.

ParticipantThanks, BA! Although it’s preaching to the choir here, anything to get people (cyclists, runners, pedestrians) to be more visible at night is a good thing.

ParticipantNew update to old thread. Why? New light!
Starting with the old light (B+M LumoTec IQ Cyo Plus) which was state of the art in 2011… And going to the B+M LumoTec IQ Cyo T Premium. Brighter emitter and revised optics. Same camera, same wide open ISO3200 exposure, same less-than-steady hand at speed. But look what is possible now! Off the same “lowly” 6v 3w side mount generator.

ParticipantThe beam is so wide that those are shadows from my bar end shifter cables.
Oh, same sharp cutoff on the beam to keep from blinding your fellow commuters.

ParticipantIs it really a “gift” card if you have to win it? Isn’t that a “win card?”
I should write for Seinfeld.

You have given me new reason to be super excited about saving up for my dynohub wheel build. I was happy with my 2011 vintage Cyo headlight, too, but this new one looks AMAZING!!!

There is this one, there is the Schmidt Edelux II (the updated IQ Premium optics with their trademark machined aluminum shell and glass lens, priced accordingly), and an even wilder pair from B+M- 2 Luxos models that, from pictures and photometrics I’ve seen, have an even wider beam at medium and close-in range. Imported and sold by *the* lighting geek, of course: http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/
