I have relatives in town this month. Since they aren’t as enthusiastic about bikes as I am, riding even a tandem bike was out. But the bike pedicabs were an acceptable choice. It’s a nice touristy trip around the Mall. You get to sit out in the fresh air and see the sights without having to pedal or balance on a bike. If you have any non-riding friends or relatives, I’d suggest a bike pedicab trip. You sort of get the sensation of cycling without the need to balance on a bike. With older individuals, those who physically can’t ride a bike, and those who are afraid of riding, the bike pedicab is a good alternative.

It could also be a good activity for young children, if you can keep them from squirming around and jumping out of the pedicab while it’s moving.

I always feel sorry for the pedicab drivers when I see them pedaling a pair of passengers that should be pedaling themselves…..

But they get paid to ride a bike. That’s not so bad.

My bike chain broke off during one day of my commute. I hired pedicab to transport me and my bike to the bike store. During the rush hours, I can’t take it on the Metro and didn’t feel like to stuff my bike the taxi’s trunk. The pedicab driver told that it was his time carrying a bike on his pedicab. They also know a good machinist in town.

If my bike break down again, you would use pedicab instead of taxi.

That’s a really cool idea; will have to remember that if I get stuck on the Mall in the future.

For the record, I saw an article about the pedicab drivers recently. Turns out they are all entrepreneurs in that they rent the pedicabs by the day and whatever fares they collect they pocket; as a result, a lot of them are combining the pedicab hours with regular full-time or part-time jobs.
