Sweet commute since you’re mostly on trail and away from cars, plus downhill in the morning – something you’ll appreciate when the warm weather comes and you need to arrive at work without looking like a sponge that’s been soaking in the sink.

I’m curious as to how many people are commuting in the evening at this time of the year. I’m very familiar with the MVT at all hours but am curious to know how the CCT is at night (I’ve only been on it during daylight hours). As a chick I’ve been reluctant to try it out after dark.

I don’t have much to compare it too. But I’m never alone for long. I’m probably on the CCT for 30-40 minutes I usually see 8-10 other people regardless of what time. I can’t compare that to anywhere else or other times of the year though.

Yeah, once you’ve chosen to stop going down on the Metro, you’ll always prefer to ride on top and set your own pace. Or something like that.

Very cool video…thanks for posting. It was fun to watch, as I also commute from Bethesda to just off The National Mall, so a large chunk of this is the same as my route (I pick up the trail just behind my apartment on Montgomery, or downtown near the Barnes and Noble)….I have only done the trolley trail a couple times while going to Rockville for stuff, but that was pretty to watch as well. Kudos, and welcome to the commute…God, I love being able to avoid Metro…

I agree on avoiding Metro where possible. I also found the RCP route to actually be time neutral during weekend Metro times. I discovered that during T-Day when I took bike/metro up to Silver Spring to a family member’s house and decided to take RCP to MVT back. The time difference was actually slightly in favor of biking to my surprise. Another notch against Metro.

Cool video. I have never done the whole RCP trail and have always wanted to. I almost joined a friend in the late 90s who decided to rollerblade the entire path and he actually started near our homes (back then) in Olney.

Woops, I thought this was the other thread from where MCL did the whole of RCP.

Just watched the video — what a great commute route! It made me smile just watching it.

Great use of trails, MUPs, sidewalks, and back streets for the major portion of the ride. And a perfect distance/time.
