I like the snow…but it doesn’t snow on me here in Belgium, and I miss it…just not when riding a bike

Hi All! Looking forward to the 2024 Freezing Saddles challenge, especially since this coming winter’s weather is predict to have snow. Also looking forward to an easier registration for 2025! Just kidding (not)!!

Do they use that as a screening mechanism?!!

You have to really want to join to make it through all the steps but I think I am there!

I wrote the form, and even I think it’s ridiculously complex! Unfortunately, it’s what we need to make all the moving parts move. E.g., we have to use Strava to keep track of miles, but that involves people:

    • Registering for Strava
    • Registering for the Freezing Saddles 2024 Strava club
    • Authorizing Freezing Saddles to read their Strava miles
    • Once teams are assigned in January, registering for their team’s Strava club

And you don’t even want to know how many steps are involved in getting our e-mails to go out without going directly to everyone’s spam filters. Getting everyone who already signed up for the e-mail list to click on a second e-mail to confirm they really meant it was the least of what I had to do!

So my apologies for the complications, but they really aren’t intended as a screening mechanism.
