Before I fly out on Saturday afternoon to go home, I want to check out one of my favorite events from when I lived here: the free open embassy tour (more information on this site on Cultural Tourism DC).
Come ride with me this Saturday morning as we ride from Arlington into DC and visit the Mexican Cultural Institute (they are hosting the Mexican embassy’s part of the embassy tour). You can join the ride at 2 different spots (first at Northside Social in Clarendon, second at Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe in Dupont Circle).
Here’s the plan on Saturday, May 4:
Virginia Part
- 8:30 am – Meet at Northside Social (3211 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA – Google Map)
- 9:00 am – Wheels rolling
- Ride through Clarendon, Rosslyn, across Teddy Roosevelt Bridge, along New Hampshire Ave NW towards DC meetup spot
DC Part
- 9:30 am – Meet at Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe (1517 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC – Google Map)
- 9:45 am – Wheels rolling
- Ride along New Hampshire Ave NW, 15th St NW PBL, towards Mexican Cultural Institute
Finish
- 9:55 am – Arrive at Mexican Cultural Institute (2829 16th St NW, Washington, DC – Google Map)
- 10:00 am – Mexican Cultural Institute opens, hopefully with lots of cool stuff, we enjoy said cool stuff (list is from Cultural Tourism DC site)
- Dance performances by Corazón Folklórico at 11am, 1pm and 3pm
- Samples and sales of Mexican food including tacos
- Cultural and art exhibitions
- Kids’ painting workshop
Here is the route I have planned: RideWithGPS route
Text me at 571-201-7189 if you need to contact me.
Quick note: I will probably only have time to visit one embassy (always wanted to do the Mexican one). I will head back to Arlington afterwards, but the open house embassy tour runs until 4:00 pm.
