I have no idea what you guys are talking about and I need to confess that this post does not in anyway involve cycling or bikes… however, in an attempt to figure out what you guys are talking about I happened upon a thread in the Arlnow forum entitled “Custis Trail Incident” where a jogger apparently was the target of a flying microwave. The appliance missed fortunately.

ParticipantYeah, ARLNOW is great, but the comment section is an unfortunately wildlife conservation zone for trolls. Bored yuppies have snark contests for most offensive comments. Originally the editor moderated the comments and actually knocked people off for being offensive – but I guess he gets more page views for his advertisements by letting people be jerks.
Personally, I loved the video!

It sounds like you guys take the comments section way too seriously… I find the ArlNow comments section to be consistently one of the funniest things I read all day.

ParticipantPage 8 of the Express this morning. There’s a whole column about RobotGate! Well, actually it’s more about inattention, but it was certainly brought on by the ARLnow post.

ParticipantActually a good article. I like it. Makes sense. I think if anyone saw how little attention it takes to do what was done in the video, they might not make such a big deal about it, but I don’t mind being the poster child for the cause of paying attention if someone actually pays attention to that article.
The attention that it took to do that video was no more than what it takes to scratch your ear, shift gears or blow a snot rocket. All things that most of us do on a daily basis. I certainly wouldn’t put it on par with texting while driving.
Interesting reading and worth the time. Brought up some good stuff to think about too.
Thanks for the heads-up.

ParticipantAm I the only one who now wants to try and one-up Pete? I’m thinking of trying to juggle chainsaws while riding.

Do tell when and where! I have a 10-year-old; lots of raw materials to work with in our house.

My cube is packed with all kinds of great stuff to play with… and the Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots are front and center at the moment.
I’ll find something interesting.

ParticipantI think if we could get a live human rock em sock em on the front of Dirt’s cargo bike, we might have something special. Maybe even through the Lynn St intersection!

Yup. That is definitely me behaving irresponsibly on a bicycle…. making a bad name for all cyclists. I don’t approve!!!
