ParticipantI read on the interwebs that the guy that did that should be flogged. Having fun while riding a bike should be criminalized.

ParticipantArlnow is up in arms that this bicyclist was endangering him/herself – but who cares. I am personally blown away at the Rock’em Sock’em design permanency. Much like the age-old adage regarding “building a better mousetrap,” I think it will be years before we see any substantive advances in the field of plastic robot pugilism.

ParticipantActually I kinda like where the Arlington Now conversation went. There are always gonna be people who don’t get it and poo poo everything. Some people got upset. Some people got a laugh. I got a laugh out of some of the reactions.

ParticipantA huge percentage of ArlNow commenters are habitual cranks who post all day, every day. I’d take anything they say with a huge grain of salt. I’ve gotten to the point where I just read the stories via an RSS reader, and avoid the negativity altogether.

Participant…which means I have no idea what you all are talking about, and I’m not going to ruin my day by going and reading the comments.
I know all about the Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots, though!

Participant..and another thing – I’ve ridden with Pete, and he does not need any stinkin’ robots to endanger himself!

You got that right, although I have to admit to commenting on ARLnow too, on occasion. But I swear I’m not one of the cranks!

ParticipantThe cranks inspire me.

ParticipantRock em Sock em made washcycle this morning!
http://www.thewashcycle.com/2011/11/wednesday-morning-commute-mustve-had-a-tailwind.htmlI assume from this thread the folks that don’t like it are at ArlNow. off to read that for a giggle.

ParticipantCool to see that some have a sense of humor about it. There are always gonna be those who have a banana in their tailpipe.
Thanks for the link. It made me smile.

ParticipantPete, you are a dangerous individual. And thats why I love you.

ParticipantHuh. It had never occurred to me that I could completely avoid the ARLnow commentariat by using a RSS reader. ARLnow has great coverage, but a cesspool of a comments section. Doesn’t reflect the Arlington that I experience in 3D at all.
Also, Dirt, I agree that the guy who rigged this up should be flogged. Up and down many hills.

ParticipantI can’t wait to post up the flame thrower videos!!!!
Oh yeah…. I’m super dangerous.

ParticipantI was gonna say, “Wait til they get a hold of your ‘nappin series’ photos!”

ParticipantI have no idea what you guys are talking about and I need to confess that this post does not in anyway involve cycling or bikes… however, in an attempt to figure out what you guys are talking about I happened upon a thread in the Arlnow forum entitled “Custis Trail Incident” where a jogger apparently was the target of a flying microwave. The appliance missed fortunately.

Some of the replies to the IP are hilarious and worth reading.
Also, good to keep an eye out for flying appliances because they could indeed cause serious damage to someone if they got hit.
