WOD clear from Shreve to DCA. MVT had a bit of a headwind.
Thank you. Thread un-derailed. Or is that re-railed. Though, I was almost looking forward to someone here trying to do a Bayesian analysis of the probability of a tire exploding in an office…

all this talk of inflating tires on or before reaching the Moon is academic. NASA avoided all this by using non-pneumatic tires for their lunar rovers. They were made of wire mesh, a tread, an inner frame and a hub.
Can you get a powertap in that hub?

Do you have a prior as to how that analysis will come out?

no no no. The temperate zone is only nice from a temperature standpoint. there is still no atmosphere and therefore essentially zero pressure.
PV = nRT. n is the physical number of gas molecules present. Where n=0, P and V (pressure and volume of the gas) will also equal zero, regardless of T, temperature. This is the case in the moon’s atmosphere. There is no gas, anywhere, thus pressure is .
This is just confusing. N is supposed to be the number of bikes I currently own.

doesn’t T refer to the number of Teeth on my rear cog?

I may know a prior, but it’s certainly not logical. It’s Richard.

I thought it was the number of Times my wife has rolled her eyes at a bike-related purchase.

Participant10F on Sunday morning, with high winds, above 25 mph.
5F on Monday morning, with wind around 10 mph.
At least many people have a 3-day weekend for Washington’s Birthday (which is still the official federal holiday).
The average low temperature for this date is 31F. I can deal with that, kind of. 10F and 25 mph wind, not really. I don’t plan to be riding on Sunday morning.

ParticipantRode the CCT last night & this morning. Thin coat of snow does not affect traction. Large tree down about 1/2 mile above Georgetown. I was able to go under it–not possible to go around.
Treated roads have been completely dried out by the wind. No problem on those at all. Untreated might require care, depending on if the snow blew off or got packed down.
Wind nearly blew me off the Chain Bridge, however.

ParticipantRode today the WOD between Virginia Lane and Little Falls Street in Falls Church, and all was clear, save some dusty snow and black ice in shady spots.

ParticipantBike infrastructure was very cooperative today, even if the weather was not. Joyce St bike lanes/Hayes St PBL/Eads St PBL/Commonwealth bike lanes are all nice and dry. Potomac Yard/Four Mile Run Trails are all nice and dry, but underneath I-395 there is some ice. W&OD/Bluemont Junction Trails are nice and dry except for an icy patch under US-50 and a lightly snow-covered area under Carlin Springs Rd.
Also, salt was EVERYWHERE. So much so that I actually had trouble seeing as it was making everything too bright (I had a choice between sight with sunglasses or keeping the skin on my face warm with my balaclava).

ParticipantBasically all the trails comprising the Arlington Loop are clear. Be careful of a couple of snow or ice patches that will be there in the morning.

ParticipantHeavy snow expected tonight and early tomorrow. Either 4 to 8 inches or 5 to 10 inches. Areas just to the south of DC could get 8 to 12 inches of snow. The heaviest snow is forecast to start by 8 pm.
The MVT and the 14th St. bridge will be a problem tonight and tomorrow morning if the forecast is accurate.
