ParticipantI’m so excited about my first trip through the Custis/Lynn Intersection of Doom tonight!

ParticipantGood Luck, you’ll be amazed, astounded, and stupefied when you see it. I’m sure it will all make sense after a few drinks though.
best wishes, and please be safe,

ParticipantWish I could have made it. Worked until 830. Pete I think you bought some wool socks from me (rev cycles, kid with red hair) Sorry I didn’t recognize you. If you couldn’t tell I was moving a little slow haha. Lack of nutrition during the work day will do that to you. As you left I started putting the pieces together but didn’t see much pink besides the wrist band !

ParticipantWhat a terrific event! Last night I learned so much about night time illumination and strategies for getting around in the dark. I also had an opportunity to meet people from the forum whose advice and insight I admire. It was particularly fun to see so many other women cyclists.
Thanks Tim Kelley and *cough* Mark Blacknell for organizing the event.

ParticipantDefinitely good to meet everyone. I’m so terrible with names – I didn’t even get the name of the guy who led me back through Georgetown without even getting me killed by a cabbie. Thanks again.
In somewhat related news, my front tire was way low when I got home (in addition to the back one that flatted on 34th as I was on my way to Rosslyn), so I may have a slow leak. I put air in it last night and it still feels okay, but I haven’t put weight on it yet. Georgetown roads are fired.

ParticipantI’ll second Ann’s comments! It was loads of fun to meet and talk with so many of the people here, all of whom have been a huge help to me. Thanks so much, Tim and Mark, for putting this together. (Mark, did you not have Ann’s Pinot Grigio ready upon her arrival? Just kidding, of course.) We all had a wonderful time, and it was great to welcome Zanna into the BikeArlington fold. There are too many names to mention, but I really enjoyed meeting everyone who was there and will look forward to seeing you all again at other rides and events, or perhaps just along the way.

ParticipantI had to leave early but it was great to see everyone. Let’s do it again.
Also, riding up the Custis in the dark after two beers is not fun. Just FYI.

Agreed. Btw, I think you should change your name to Shirlingtonrider.

Depends on what you count as fun
I didn’t mind it, though I didn’t have to go far at all.

ParticipantSo nice to see y’all last night and to meet some new people! Sorry that I had to run off early. This week has been crazy and I needed a beer or two with y’all…. and I needed to get home at a reasonable hour.
Glad that I could do both.
Look forward to the next one.
This is not, nor has it ever been my bike. (But I like it.)Love,
Pete

ParticipantIt was great to meet some of the forum regulars last night. And yes, I can confirm that my screenname is indeed PotomacCyclist. I honestly wasn’t sure yesterday. My browser stays logged onto the site so I don’t have to sign in that often.
Disclaimer: I took Metro to the happy hour. Do I lose cool points for that?
But I do resolve to do more riding this fall. I’m thinking about signing up for DCCX at packet pick-up. Not sure yet. My right deltoid tendon has been tender the entire year. (I injured it while doing staggered push-ups last fall. It hasn’t been bad enough to stop me from cycling, running or swimming, but it does act up from time to time if I’m sitting at a computer and using a mouse for too long.)

ParticipantIt was really nice to have met everyone in person. I agree on the names, I’m terrible at it, but I think i can relate to your screen name the next time i see you! :p
jrenaut, glad you made it home safely. I would check the front tyre to see if anything is poking in and then patch the tube.

Not if you walked up the stopped escalator.

Then don’t sit at a computer too long — get out and ride. Advice I need to follow on Sundays.

ParticipantI have to use the computer for work. Otherwise I’d try to spend less time using a computer mouse.
I decided to skip DCCX. I might sign up next year, but it depends on whether I sign up for the Marine Corps Marathon and how many weeks between the two events.

ParticipantI didn’t ride, but I went to DCCX. It was pretty awesome and makes me want to by a CX bike and try it out. Don’t tell my wife.
