    Tysons?

Grumpy voice on. What are people going to do with them, ride around in the malls? Tysons planners have blown it during all the new work. Getting around and even getting to Tysons by bike is frustrating to say the least. Billion$ already spent in cement and not one added cycle path or even sidewalk that allows safe travel east/west.

    Feh.

    Grumpy voice off

I think the Tysons bikes and stations will be best used in conjunction with the new Silver Line Metro stations, for “last mile” trips or shorter trips within central Tysons that are a bit too far to walk. Hopefully this will encourage fewer people to make short trips by car in that area.

It’s a good sign that the Tysons Partnership is playing a major role here. This means that they will continue to push for more bike projects in central Tysons, not just bikeshare. There’s a lot of work to be done, but at least they seem to recognize that and they are making some efforts to become more bike-friendly.
