ParticipantI have seen someone do so (maybe not those exact ones, but very similar). Old school trials rider, made it look easy.

ParticipantI love watching people try stuff like this. Win or lose, it’s always spectacular
So I take it you didn’t give it a go, Jabs?

ParticipantYeah, it definitely looks doable by someone with some trials skills. I could not do it, though someday when I am feeling stupid I will give it a try.

Ha, that’s not possible at this one! I’m going to try it this summer. Might fall in the first couple of times but I think I can do it. I watch a lot of trial bike videos so I am practically an expert.

I’ve tried them before. My trials skills aren’t up to that level. I make it two or three rocks in and end up in the water.

Hmm..I’m not too familiar with the CCT, but I think that’s the same one? Are there more than one of those along the trail?
**Nevermind, just pulled up the Google Maps and realized they are, indeed, not the same ones.
I believe the picture of Dirt was this one: https://www.google.com/maps/@38.9705272,-77.2796816,21z

ParticipantI almost think you could power over these rocks with a dual suspension bike. No trials skills needed.

Eh, not really. The gaps are just too big, even for my 160mm bike. If it was only 3-4 rocks long, maybe.

Did the guy you saw make it through do it trials-y style, i.e., bouncing on the rear wheel then pedal kicking? If so, ain’t no chance of me ever doing it 😮

Sort of. He didn’t go rear wheel only, he just kicked his way across, with each wheel on a rock the whole way (each kick would advance up one rock). Very little pausing and balancing. He made it look easy peasy. But he was someone who had been a trials rider for many years.

Yup, no chance
Speaking of rock crossings, have you ever successfully ridden across this one at Laurel Hill? I haven’t.

The one on Giles Run? I’ve tried it several times but never quite made it. That one is short enough that I could probably just bash my way over, but the run-in is awful both directions so its hard to get lined up on it in the first place.
