    Hi all,
After reading the latest Strava blog post on “Everesting” (“pick your hill and ride it repeatedly until you’ve ascended the equivalent height – 8,848m – of Everest from sea level.”) I started thinking what that might look like around here. Not sure I’m even up for a challenge this ridiculous but thought it’d be fun to see what the Bike Arlington group would have to say. As the author points out, you’d have to find a stretch of road that strikes a balance between gradient and distance. What say you? Does anyone in the group have an “Everest” under their belts already?!

Hehe — nice day for a pirate ride. Thanks to a generous barometric altimeter I finished with 29,300 feet. Actually, it was super scenic and great fun to ride in the fresh air away from the four-wheeled menace.

Pirate responds, “Yarrrrgh – It’s drivin’ me nuts!”

What is a pirate’s favorite letter of the alphabet?

No, that’s actually a common misconception. A pirate’s favorite letter of the alphabet ’tis the sea!

Not as long as people keep falling for it! I mean, there’s only like 4 of us who read every single post…

Hmm. So now I know why the last 11 days seemed so pleasant.

    Incredible efforts:
    http://cyclingtips.com.au/2015/02/20-women-everest-donna-buang/

Fastest woman did it in 17 hrs. Three ended up doing 10,000m.

One rider had to dust herself off after falling because of a close encounter with a wombat.

I hate it when that happens.

Just replace kangaroo/wallaby with deer, possum with squirrel/raccoon, and, wombat with… badger? skunk? I dunno.

This is the segment by the way. Nothing like that here :( 3500+ft in 10 miles.

What does a white sign with 100 in a red circle mean? Certainly not 100 kph right?? That’s super fast for that road.

It does mean a 100kph limit actually, pretty crazy. Not sure why it’s so high there. Where did you see the picture of the sign?
