Sorry, we missed all the important details!

    Date: Sat, 8/31 (this Saturday)
    Time: 8:30 a.m.
    Location: Tri360, 2121 N. Westmoreland St. ARLINGTON

And smartphones w/ Strava are perfect!

Run both and see what gives you the faster time! I’m racing in the mountains this weekend, so I won’t be able to play….

All KOM/QOM contenders should be required to do the Quebec St. loop twice.

The iPhone will usually give you the faster time afaik.

Yeah, I am disappointed I will be out of town. I have been meaning to try the tri360 ride and this would have been a great way to check it out. Especially since Tim is away. And I assume Jason Berry would be ineligible, since he’s too fast, right? :-)

Well, Will is in the lead so far (beat me by 3 seconds!!)…and as a data point, my phone and Garmin gave the exact same speed and time for the segment.

I uploaded my ride data from the Garmin – my times on all the segments are different!

Yeah, it depends on the accuracy of the GPS and the frequency of the data writes (smart vs every second on the Garmin).

    Congrats on the challenge, though!

Thanks :) Maybe I’ll get some new shoes – or some delicious delicious Skratch Labs stuff!

Yeah I have my Garmins set to every second so they probably extrapolate less often. The GPS accuracy is a factor too, last time (the Hilly Chilly Chili ride) we came down from Pollard onto 31st, this time it was a straight left from Military Rd so a lot of people’s times included the waiting time before each rider was released to go (roughly 15 second gaps). The segment could probably be trimmed a bit from the start position to avoid that issue.

Was that the Tri360 group hanging out at Lee Highway and N Rock Spring alongside the Country Club a little after 10 am? I was heading down Rock Spring as the stragglers were climbing up.

Yup…Rock Spring is the last climb of the ride, so the group gets pretty spread out.
