Apparently, the email address that I provided as part of supporting an Arlington cycling-related cause has either been given or sold to a local political campaign resulting in me getting political ad spam. That is not cool.
Turns out Clement wasn’t even on the ballot, which is strange since she had signs up. There was also no room for a write in. She’s an independent and it was a democratic primary, so I don’t know what was up with the signs. Either way, I didn’t vote for her.
The Post stated that Garvey won easily, but it was 8,362 6,878, which doesn’t strike me as easily, no matter who you supported.
I do this every single time I give out my email on a form. Then when I get a spam email I can see who it is addressed to and it tells me exactly who gave out my email.

According to our records we obtained your email from public records, which means that you used this email address to communicate to the Arlington County Board sometime in the last year. State law mandates that all communication with the County Board is public record and available for public examination. We did not buy or obtain your address from any vendor or other third-party source. Our volunteers manually collected the information from the public record and noted the policy area of concern to you. Rest assured your email address was NOT added to a database and will NEVER be sold or otherwise transferred to any other campaigns, groups, or entities.
