As part of the Duke St in Motion project, the city is collecting public input on Duke St’s Cambridge and West Taylor Run Pkwy intersections.
Right now, Duke St has more crashes than any other street in Alexandria. Many crashes involve people walking and biking through these two intersections.
The city has proposed a two-way protected bikeway between Cambridge Rd and Telegraph Rd. The bikeway will buffer the sidewalk, protecting children and adults using the sidewalk, especially as the city plans to funnel traffic from Duke St on and off the service roads. The 0.5 mile bikeway will be part of a FOUR MILE long route between the new INOVA Hospital and the King St Metro, the first cross-town, all ages and abilities route.
Help build this bikeway by taking the survey by January 15. For question 12 regarding Cambridge Rd, please select “I prefer one-way westbound between West Taylor Run Pkwy and Cambridge Rd. For question 16 for West Taylor Run Pkwy, rate Option 2 “five out of five.” Please share this survey with your friends and neighbors. Want to ensure your voice is heard?
