Downtown U-Turns: Penna Avenue signage.

Only related so much in that it’s signage in the city, I noticed a sign on 13th St and Emerson NW that read “Steep Hill Bicycles May Use Sidewalk” in the yellow sign color:

13th St there is riddled with stop signs and it’s not like we would be slower, but it’s well north of Mass so we could use the sidewalk anyway. I really don’t know the purpose of the sign.

Since there are already signs at almost every intersection saying no u turn, I can’t imagine this is going to make any difference at all.

Honestly, I’d rather squeeze by the sign like that and have it be visible and effective than wayyyyyy off to the right. Thats’ just me though.

In honor of you, they’ll put the sign back and then place an MPD cruiser next to it. Note: cruiser not for enforcement.

I thought the same thing when I saw the first pictures/tweets/complaints about placement.

Bicycle Space (http://www.bicyclespacedc.com/) is having a little ride Friday Morning on the Penna Avenue Cycleway from 7-9am. Freedom Plaza is where folks are meeting up.
