Don’t delay on Freezing Saddles registration!

Historically, our deadline for registering for Freezing Saddles has been December 24 — and we’ve often been able to accommodate even people who registered after that date. However, we have an absolute cap of 250 on the number of participants. This year, we already have 200 registrants. (Contrast this with last year at this time, when we had 86, or all of last year, when we had 186.) So there is a very strong likelihood that we will have to turn some people away this year.

If you’ve been procrastinating, now is the time to register in order to avoid that disappointment. And while registering for this forum and making at least one post is a requirement in order to play, don’t wait to register for Freezing Saddles if you have attempted to do these things but your forum registration or your first post is waiting for approval. Just note this on the Freezing Saddles registration form where it asks for the number of posts you’ve made. Henry (our forum god) is monitoring Freezing Saddles submissions, and will get you/your first post released from limbo.

Wow! I’d really like to know what changed. I just hope they don’t turn into Bots that don’t actually ride bikes, but only post nonsense on the web.

I hear it’s being talked up at some biking venues. Given the lengthy and cumbersome registration process, with multiple captchas along the way, I seriously doubt any bots are making it through.

Even though I was really fired up for it this year, unfortunately I need to bow out because of a surprise medical issue will keep me from riding for a few months.

So, I’m not 100% sure where I should message you, but if you see this please remove me from the participants. Thank you. Hopefully next year!

Sorry to hear it! I have removed you from the list of people competing. Please note, you will still be on two other lists:

• Friends of BAFS. You will be eligible to compete for any Pointless Prizes you want to, but you will not have points counted for yourself or for any team.
• Mailing list. You will get e-mails about things like happy hours, which you are still welcome to to attend.
