Hi everyone. I’m talking, really dream, like in your sleep.
I almost never remember dreams, but recently I had one, and it was all about my bicycle.

What happened was I’d “lost” my credit card in the afternoon. Just before leaving work, I realized I didn’t have it. Eek. I was totally panicked. I hoped I had left it on the table at home, but I wasn’t sure. I rode home at killer speeds (by my standards :)) and found the credit card waiting for me.

Anyhow, that night I had a nightmare. It was worse than losing my credit card.
I dreamed that I was walking down the street – pulling my bike alongside – and all of a sudden I literally lost my bicycle. It was totally absurd.
I woke up in a fright, looked over at my trusty Trek, and realized it was just a bad dream.

Do others dream about bicycles, too… aside from daydreams about n+1? :)

I will occasionally dream I’m riding a bike. It rarely ends well (always seem to end up falling or not ever being able to reach my destination, or I’m in a race and getting spanked. Moreso.)

Only once so far, that I can remember, and I do not remember the content – I think I had my bike but was not riding it, but I am not sure. If I was riding, it was uneventful.

Weird timing, cause I just had what I believe to be my first bike riding dream last night. I too rarely remember dreams and even this one is pretty fuzzy already, but I was I guess commuting to work in kinda crappy weather (should be familiar to anybody whose gone outside in the past 2 weeks). The trail started going into flooded marshlands and devolved into a 4 inch wide series of large stones sunk on their edges into the water. Like a hundred yard slate balance beam through the reeds. One of the stones fell over as I made my way over and I fell into the muddy water. I was a little pissed about getting wet but I grabbed my bike and started wading through to the other side – then my alarm went off. Yikes.

I have day dreams about bikes or being out riding but can’t say that I have regular /night time dreams about them. Oddly enough the only transportation that shows up in my dreams is an old project car that I let go of at least 10 years ago. :)

Wow, so am I the only one whose dreams almost always involve bikes? I guess it is because cycling is such a big part of my life (it is how I get around, it is what I do for fun, and I have bikes in just about every room in my house (including my bedroom).

Most of these dreams are uneventful, but a couple of weeks ago, I had a dream that my beloved commuter bike was stolen and I was devastated. In the dream, some very kindhearted soul gave me a Spot Brand Honeybadger (as in straight up gave it to me, no strings attached) which was awesome, but I still cried over my lost Raleigh. When I woke up, I got up and made sure my commuter was still in the hallway where it belonged.

Last night I dreamt that I told someone I haven’t been able to ride my bike much lately, and they looked down at my middle and said, “obviously.” :(

(Bad) Dreams about bikes and credit cards are reserved for my wife.

Most recent dream of cycling involved climbing a hill. Both my hands flew off the bars simultaneously, and what woke me was my arms hitting either side of me on the bed.

No joke, I have a recurring dream where I am a totally master of wheelies (and even stoppies on occasion). It’s so convincing a dream that I’m constantly disappointed that I have almost no control over them in real life.

My latest was a dream about getting a frame that I had ordered, opening the box, and finding that the thing had flaking paint, the decals were coming off, and the color was way off. I was really upset about it! The weird thing is that I totally forgot about it until I actually went to the shop to pick up that frame the next day, and the instant I opened the box, the dream came flooding back, and I had this enormous wave of relief that in real life, the frame looked fabulous.

All the time. Though like most of my dreams, I rarely remember the details. Sometimes its riding, other times racing(!) When my bike was stolen, my dream RAM hadn’t yet cleared its cache, so when I dreamt I was still riding my own bike. It was disappointing to wake up…

Last night I had a nightmarish thing where I was riding over all these sticks and many of them were not sticks but were snakes and I was bunny hopping the snakes but they were everywhere and they’d try to bite me and I lost my balance and was falling into one and then the dream ended right there and in the next one Donald Trump was president. I won’t say which dream was worse, but one was substantially more upsetting than the other.

I once had a nightmare that I was riding westward on the W&OD. When I came to the US-15 bypass east of Leesburg and was heading down the hill, I could not find my brake levers and crashed. I got up, none the worse for wear, but my handlebars had twisted. So I twisted them back and continued.

Not really unfortunately… In the most recent dream I can remember I was asking whether the dog had her cleats on. Cause she was outside and dogs need cleats to be outside.

Anyway, sometimes after a full day of riding and spending hours with the white and yellow lines of the road beaming into my eyes I have trouble getting them out of my head. They tend to factor into dreams more than bikes do.

Not always about bikes, but after any day when I ride 10 plus hours, my dreams that night are crazy. But the bike focus are usually centered around my father’s stories’ about bike as a kid.
